Bravo on the self-restraint, subby. This is troll worthy material.

17 year old brings politician to her knees on Twitter?

2013-12-14 09:12:49 AM
Gotta turn back the clock with this one. I remember being a boy who first saw her in a rather obscure movie called One Night Only. I hit the pause button on her topless scenes more than once. Would not do it now if she appeared in a sequel, however.

2013-12-14 09:13:26 AM
Well....apparently doesn't glamorize women's prisons like those Cinemax movies do.

2013-12-14 09:13:59 AM
Maybe if she did a follow-up video with tanning mom that would be something to see.

2013-12-14 09:14:10 AM
Meant to say, "Well...The L Word apparently...".  Sorry, eh.

2013-12-14 09:16:31 AM
I'm not interested in any pics of her from 2008, but if anyone's got some from 1908 I'll take a gander.

She may have some legal recourse with this.

Let me try a better headline:

"Obscure politician from BFE wants relevency and reminds people that she did a topless scene years ago in an attempt to grab headlines".

...ya know, I think the years of lurking fark has...jaded me a little.

Small differences between U.S. and Candada

U.S. Public: OMG THINK OF THE CHILDREN RESIGN NOW!
U.S. Politician: <insert teary apology here>

Canadian Public: Check out the jugs on this MP eh!
Canadian Politician: I'm too naive to understand my topless performance on a TV show might someday surface again.

I wouldn't have known about this if she hadn't complained about it (and subby hadn't submitted it). Now I do and yes I did the GIS.

/looks a bit like tanning mom IMO

I need to show this to my aunt who looks just like her.  Actually...that's a bad idea, she'll get the wrong idea.

More frightening that the photo is comment section of the article.  fark Canada is becoming lame.  Now you can't insult people online without being subject to possible legal action and these douchebags are gleefully asking for more.

She's complaining that a 17 year old is bullying her? If she can't handle a high school student, what the hell is she doing in politics?

Because if she COULD handle high school students, she'd be a teacher.

Exactly. The smart thing to do in that situation is to STFU about it.

Besides, we're entering an era where almost everyone has nude selfies online. Or worse. It's just not a big deal.

MacKay said just because an image is in the public domain, that doesn't mean it can be used for any purpose.

This is something that politicians actually believe. Full stop. Let that sink in and just realize how boned you are as a society.

There is some magical way that images broadcast on a TV show can be captured and transferred to computer media?  Wow!

I was hoping she looked more like the former Ukrainian prime minister, or even the current one from Denmark.

I'd hit it with the lights on. But then, I'm 55 and my tastes have changed considerably over the years. She looks damned good to me.

Her big mistake was her initial reaction. She should have written the kid back with something like, "Yeah, I still look good. Call me in 30 years when you can keep up with me." Or something like that. Own the image with some pride, it was a legit acting gig. Instead, she kicks up a fuss and it goes viral in a bad way. Dumbness piled on dumbness. Hell, Julie Andrews still has pride in her topless shot in one of her hubby's films, what, was it S.O.B.? I forget. Classy dame, that Julie Andrews.

But then I am 55.

I live an hour south of there in Halifax, used to live 15 min west.

Lets just say no one in Truro is all that bright. There's a farming school though. Long story short, kid finds nude pictures from a TV show of his elected representative. Posts what is already available online and that turns into a media shiatshow.

There was a huge bullying incident in Halifax a year ago, some teenage girl slept with 4 guys at a party and pictures got out. Liquor and 14-15 year olds involved, media clusterfark, girl killed herself. There was nothing to charge the boys with so they didn't get charged.

Back to the point.. Because of this, people pushed for anti-cyberbullying legislation, which was hastily enacted and poorly thought out because cyber = scary and our NDP majority was on it's last legs and needed votes. (Liberals took almost all their seats in legislature in October)

This politician, who happens to be one of the few NDP left, is trying to hide her past work history/nude acting, by pulling the "cyberbully" card. She asked the guy to take it down. He didn't. She called his parents, and they took it down.

He (fairly rightfully) got pissed. But then took it too far with insults.

What SHOULD have happened is ignoring it. Now it's national news. Streisand would love to have a coffee..

I think she is mixing terms. She uses public domain to mean "out in public" instead of "intellectual property rights have expired, have been forfeited, or are inapplicable". I seriously doubt that The L Word is public domain.
