The ken burns documentary "baseball" has N interesting take on the Barry Bonds thing. Talks a lot about how his dad was treated by other players while he played and what affect that had on Barry seeing that as he grew up.

Headline: "Jeopardy! Declares War on Barry Bonds!!!!1111oneoneone"

Article: "Jeopardy! makes a joke that even Jay Leno got bored of five years ago."

It's ironic because every team at the time had juicers and still has juicers today. And players have been cheating since the dawn of the sport. Hell, Hank Aaron was on amphetamines when he played. Mickey Mantle got injections of steroids, too, according to his old teammate.

Yes that is completely a "war" on Barry Bonds and not Jeopardy referencing 5 year old pop culture like, you know, Jeopardy does.

Lots of Bonds apologists in here. Barry still hates every last one of you, you know.

That's impossible. Everyone knows Jose Canseco invented a home run formula in the late 80s, when he also introduced it to a young Mark McGuire. McGuire, along with Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds, perfected the formula in the 90s and named it STEROIDS.

They were just trying to emphasize how much of a star Bonds is by putting in additional stars, *.  As in, "call star 67" for us Canadians in the old days.

For a time, but his legacy is garbage. He'll never be revered like Aaron, Ruth or even his godfather, Mays.

Yup, it is tainted. And it probably sucks for him at least a little bit.

But for me - someone who watches the game and understands that the entire era has been tainted, just like every era before it in some way (amphetamines, no black players, etc) - all I know is Bonds has all those home runs and all those numbers, and as of today, they are official according to Major League Baseball. Plus you're lying to yourself if you think he was the only one. We have no way of knowing what percentage of the league was juicing.

You can put an asterisk on anything to make yourself feel better, but the fact still remains that he's still the best that's ever done it.

That's kind of the thing isn't. If he was juicing, and all the pitchers he was facing were jucing, shouldn't they cancel each other out?

Has nothing to do with him just being a dick and an ego driven prick who got jealous someone else got attention so he started juicing does it?

What's sad is that he was a HOF player before and pissed that away to hit HRs. His ego farked him and has turned him into a punchline.

Hes not the greatest player to ever play, maybe top 10 or 20 but not the greatest to ever play.

And quit acting like no black players is some kind of huge advantage for MLB at that time, when the league did finally allow blacks it wasnt like every team was 100% black players. Only a few were good enough to be every day players, its closer to how NPB is now, some good but only a few good enough to play every day or be stars.

No need for the anger. It is simply some added back story that some people may be interested in knowing.

If pitchers weren't on the juice, Bonds would have over a thousand dingers.

fark all that ban on performance enhancers. I want to see the 35' long jump and the sub-2 hour marathon.
