Cletus C.: OK, Walker is asked why his book doesn't cover his failed pledge to add 250,000 jobs, and instead focuses only on his successful efforts to limit collective bargaining for most state employees.

Walker says the book's purpose was the collective bargaining aspect of his governorship. He then points out that Spielberg did much the same thing when he made Lincoln, zeroing in on one aspect of the book from which the movie was based.

Far-left Wisconsin blog goes all "derpity, derp, derp, derp, Walker compared himself to Lincoln!"

He didn't.

Now granted that probably isn't a very good comparison to use.

To paraphrase walkers statement: The book focuses on Union busting, like the movie Lincoln focuses on abolition of slavery.

But out of the thousands of other comparisons to make, Walker decided to use abolition of slavery in his comparison.

What would have been a better comparison he should have used? maybe you should let him know that.

.  But out of all the hundreds of other possible examples he decided to use Slavery.

Don't fret. Walker won't get the car keys. We will, however, be required to apply TWO coats of wax.

The sad thing is you could post that list, with your addition, to places like freerepublic, and people would praise every point without the slightest hint of self-awareness.

Jim_Callahan: Um... while the thirteenth amendment wasn't a bad amendment in itself and historically did something we'd now consider pretty unarguably good, it was passed by vote-fixing, dirty legal tricks, outright bribery (mostly giving away appointed positions) and disenfranchisement of areas with a tendency to disagree to the point of the government outright ignoring the will of the voters to put people from entirely different states in certain seats.

Basically, dude may want to think his metaphor over since if you tried to pass anything that way today you'd be out of office and probably in jail on multiple felonies in weeks.  Turns out that it's not the 1800s and we're not in the aftermath of the nastiest, most internally destructive war the nation ever faced... you're kind of expected to respect the actual rule of law these days.

The important thing to remember is that if slavery existed and was being debated today, "conservatives" would be defending it, as they always defend evil, exploitative "traditions".
And that's the truth.

I don't understand the need to invent outrage when someone's so consistently despicable that there are endless examples of actual things to be bothered about. Walker's a douche, that's common knowledge. But what I read in the article indicated he was drawing a slight comparison to writing his book on a single event (passage of Act 10) and Spielberg making a movie about a single event (passage of the 13th Amendment).
Nothing in his comments were about his policies or promises, except where he mentioned being proud of having made them and said he'd come back to that (which, if he did, was not in TFA). That entire interview was him pitching his book, which apparently he has time to work on despite having an entire state ruin.

/that's not a typo

I think Scott Walker is a colossal douche, but that's not what he did at all.

Mrtraveler01: Jackson Herring: jesus christ, submitter, is it really that farking hard to read the article

Doesn't discount the fact that it was a moronic comparison and perhaps the lamest excuse he could come up with on why he doesn't want to talk about how his main campaign promise has been nothing but a total failure so far.

No, it doesn't. But THAT doesn't discount the fact that the headline is pure derp. The GOP doesn't need their douchiness to be embellished or made up.

In other words, retardmitter isn't helping.

I think it's called a sick-out, though I haven't heard of one happening in fifteen years or so.

The point of a strike is that you can't all be fired at once. Call it whatever you like.

There's all kinds of possibilities of things that could be done

I'm just saying... you can always strike.

Ken VeryBigLiar
he also tried to give himself an out by saying that all tribes had to agree to it

It may also be an attempt to break the unity of the tribes regarding mining.
