Ok, if you are a Republican, and Breitbart is calling you out on your possible shenanigans, you might want to take a step back and re-evaluate things.

Saiga410: I actually believe him.  If I was to take dirty money I for sure would have come up with a decent cover story before hand and I certainly would have devised one after being found out.... but this man has done neither so I really cannot think he has done anything wrong.

That assumes that Stockman is altogether sane. This isn't his first example of erratic behavior...

This is actually Stockman's second tour in Congress. His first stint came in 1994, when he was swept in with the Newt Gingrich wave-though once in Congress, he deemed Gingrich insufficiently conservative. The Stockman of the '90s styled himself an ally of the then-flourishing militia movement, winning in an upset by accusing a veteran Democratic congressman of supporting the federal raid on the Branch Davidian cult compound in Waco. Stockman later argued that the Waco raid was a government setup designed to create public sympathy for an assault-weapons ban. "These men, women and children were burned to death because they owned guns that the government did not wish them to have," he wrote, in an essay coincidentally published in Guns & Ammo magazine immediately after the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. In 1996, he was defeated by a Democrat.

Stockman's past is littered with curiosities, as Tim Murphy has recounted in Mother Jones. His wayward youth found him charged with a felony for stashing Valium in his underwear; homeless, he spent several months living in a public park. In the 1990s, Stockman found Jesus and began running for Congress. He finally won on his third try, boosted by support from a direct-mail firm seeking revenge (Stockman's opponent had tried to regulate the industry) and a supposedly independent "newspaper," published from Stockman's home address, that called out government officials as "sodomites" and "mean lesbians." In his current term, Stockman has been dogged by campaign-finance violations and accusations he failed to disclose numerous business ties as required. He was one of 10 House Republicans who refused to vote for John Boehner for speaker, citing "bedrock conservative principle."

UberDave: I like how he simply says the Chronicle is crazy yet can't answer a simple question.  It reminds me of my brother in-law's sociopathic ex-wife who with nothing but a psychology degree, constantly bragged about her salary at a major engineering firm which, within three years of working at the company, was that of a level 4 engineer.  She could never tell me what she did even when I directly asked, "what product does your section produce?".  That's what providing favors for the right person will get you.

Now, if I were to guess, Stockman probably isn't providing sexual favors for someone like my brother in-law's ex but it certainly sounds like he's doing something.

Stockman: "The Chronicle made it up; if you pull the disclosure forms they claim to have found this information on you will see no such figure from no such organization is on there. I refuse to discuss such blatantly false accusations."
Breitbart (yes, this was Breitbart): "OK, here is a copy of your disclosure form, and it does show $350K from Presidential Trust Marketing listed on it like the Chronicle alleges. What is your relationship with them?"
Stockman: "I told you: the accusations are false and I refuse to discuss them."

This is the guy that Tea Party groups are trying to make a litmus test for 2016 candidates by asking if they will endorse his primary challenge against the liberal RINO John Cornyn. You know Cornyn, the 2nd most conservative Senator?

Democrats do alleged criminal activity: all democrats are evil for the next 40 years
Republicans do alleged criminal activity: elevated to God status, given kush jobs at Fox News

It's clear which party I should vote for in '16.

I was thinking the same thing as I read the article. If a lying right wing nut job can't mosey through a Breitbart interview then he's doing it wrong.

Anything like sitting through Chris Matthews interviewing his idol?

Yeah, Chris Matthews talking about George W. Bush was pretty fangirlish at times:

"We were given a rare opportunity to hear the real philosophy of this administration with regard to the war in Iraq. A powerful rendition by the president of why we're there. When he talked about the fact that we can support emerging democracies in the Middle East, and that's the only way we can prevent future 9/11′s, you're getting to the heart of why this administration is fighting that war in Iraq.

"This president is ready to fight like a rock through the rest of his term,"
Matthews proclaimed. "He made it clear that he's going to fight as long as it takes to develop a democracy in Iraq. There's not going to be any change come September."

"We're proud of our president. Americans love having a guy as president, a guy who has a little swagger, who's physical."

"Sometimes it glimmers with this man, our president, that kind of sunny nobility."

"I like him. Everybody sort of likes the president, except for the real whack-jobs, maybe on the left."

"A little bit of Lincoln there, I think,
" referring to Bush finally admitting that telling Iraqi insurgents to "bring it on" in 2003 "sent the wrong signal to people."

Out of morbid curiosity, I went over to the original interview at Breitbart.com and checked the comments.  They are as hopelessly stupid as you'd expect.

The top rated comment declares it a smear cooked up by the NSA.  The rest are mostly "WHY IS BREITBART DOING THE LIBERAL MEDIA'S OPPOSITION RESEARCH?  BE MORE PARTISAN!!!"

The few reasonable people asking, "Dude, he won't even answer what the hell he does to get paid six figures by a company that barely seems to exist.  That doesn't bother you?" are shouted down as Obamabots.

According to the Heritage people, which is who the Tea Party takes their marching order from, Cornyn only scores an 86%. That's a solid B man. Tea Partiers want A men in their group. Here's the men ahead of Cornyn

100% - Mike Lee
99% - Ted Cruz
96% - Rand Paul
93% - Tim Scott
90% - Pat Roberts
89% - James Inhofe
89% - Ron Johnson
87% - Marco Rubio

Obviously he is not conservative enough.

Pat Roberts has a primary challenger, Dr. Milton Wolf, whom the Senate Conservatives Fund has already endorsed in the primary. Strangely, Wolf is Obama's second cousin once removed; I'm waiting for the popcorn to arrive on those ads from Roberts.

This is what I don't get about dirty politicians.  If I were dirty and had shiat to hide, I'd have all my excuses and subterfuge all prepared in advance of someone finding out and/or asking questions.  These people are so full of themselves they think they're immune to everything, and it makes them terribly lazy liars.

It's almost cliche to say this with regard to modern politics anymore, but:  "It's not the crime.  It's the coverup."
