Whip out any scrap paper you want. We need some TP for the outhouse we're installing up there.

You tried invading three times - and royally f**ked it up. Stick with destitute third-world nations - ones with high embassy roofs in case you have to chopper out of there in a panic.

Anyone seen Axis Powers Hetalia?

"Who are you?"

"I'm Canada"

"Who are you?"

"I said, I'm Canada"

Does this mean we have to leave poutine out for Santa from now on?

2013-12-12 09:32:56 AM
The "Harper Government" has such a weird nationalistic hard-on. I wonder what Stevey's Fark handle is, because I'm sure he's the guy who showd up in threads about Canada and rebuts any jokes about Canada with, "We burned down the White House LOL!"

Better Canada than Russia.

Arkanaut: Great, now we have to put out Timbits and double-doubles for Santa.

Tim Horton's is universal in Canada. There's one in every town with a population of more than 2500. Poutine is more of a Quebec thing.

The arctic is free game unless canada has the means and the will to defend their claim. If not STFU.

canada: "It's ours"

Russia: "No it's not."

canada: "But look, map!"

Russia: "Look, nuclear submarine!"

canada: "B-b-b-b-but United Nations!"

UN: *crickets*

If the US claims the north pole, do we get to make a century of stupid jokes about how it sure is cold up there in America?

Or can we make the first words out of our mouths every time we meet an American "sure is cold up there, in America."

The melting makes it more valuable. Navigable waters and huge reserves of oil and gas under that snow and ice means $$$$.

Those death panel-lovin' Canadians are trying to invade the North Pole and force Santa into their socialist health care plans.

The USA already chose to put their North Pole in Alaska. This one is ours, and we even have the postal code assigned.

How many times are we going to see this story this week?  Yes I know, "followup" but its the same god damned story.

USA: "Russia is claiming strategically important areas near our coasts? Um no. They definitely belong to our buddy Canada. Here, meet our much better nuclear submarines."

Ayup. It's quite prudent for the Americans to make whatever kind of claim to the Arctic that they can. However, if the international community scoffs at it, why not back Canada's efforts so we can both reap the bounty? fark Russia - and whatever other frosty shiathole is competing with MY frosty shiathole.

Here is a map that shows the seafloor features in question:

http://geology.com/world/arctic-ocean-bathymetry-map.jpg

That is one farking weird feature stretching across the arctic ocean, but I wouldn't call part of anybody's continental shelf.  Maybe a spreading zone, like the mid-Atlantic ridge?

I think I can settle this: Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in October. If they can't even get that one right, there's no way we're gonna let them handle Christmas...

He already wears red and white. Just sew a maple leaf on the fat fark and be done with it.

Big deal. Santa has been Canadian for a long time now. He couldn't hack the taxes in Norway.

His mailing address, by the way is Canadian:

Santa Claus
The North Pole
Canada
H0H 0H0

Yes, Santa gets so much mail he now has his own postal code.

The H at the beginning suggests that The North Pole is in Quebec, specifically, in the Montreal region. That is where the mail is sorted, any way. If your kids send a letter to Santa at this address, they may very well get an answer. For years, Canada's postal workers have been answering children's letters to Santa on the Big Guy's behalf.

But, come on! We lost the North Magnetic Pole (through no fault of our own, I might add, it just wandered off). At least let us have the geographic pole. Being Northern means a lot to Canada. We don't want a Russian military or economic wedge driven between us and our icy heritage. Are we not God's Frozen People*?

To tell the truth, the Arctic nations have been drawing their borders straight to the Pole for decades. If you continue the Alaska-Yukon border this way, we both get a slice of the pie and the pole itself belongs to no one.

If Russia does this, however, it gets half the fricking Arctic Ocean. That's probably something worth avoiding.

Nobody really knows what the seafloor is like under much of the Arctic, but Canada's claim is not arbitrary. We are following the rules. We just need some more maps to back up our druthers. I do hope that the Lomonosov Ridge doesn't hook up with the Russian continental shelf but rather hooks up with ours. Greenland has a chance to prove it hooks up with them. If it hooks up with everybody, maybe we can agree to disagree and leave some Ocean for the other countries in the world. In other words, Europe, China and India.

*Us and the Protestants. Even Irish and Italian Roman Catholics are a biatchillier in Canada.
