Oddly, when I fixed that for you so it matched what Affleck actually said, your objection seems irrational

No, they're complaining about a bunch of assholes who follow them day and night and won't let their kids shiat in peace. I don't see one place where he actually complains about being rich and famous. Paparazzi are scum of the earth and serve no actual public interest.

Affleck doesn't want or deserve your sympathies, but his kids do. He and Jen Garner seem like decent parents. They seem to treat their kids like people rather than lifestyle accessories like some celebrities seem to do.

Meh, he's like Keanu Reeves, there are roles he's done that I really like, but other stuff that just flops around like the goldfish at the end of the video for Faith No More's Epic. Definitely don't hate the guy, but I think he's about as appropriate for batman as Pauly Shore would be.

I'm guessing you'd be a tad biatchy too if you had throngs of assholes with cameras camped out on your lawn 24/7, and sticking their cameras in your face while you're eating dinner, taking your kids to school, going to the dentist, etc etc... That shiat would get old real quick.

Sure, celebrities are entertainers... But not 24 hours a damn day. Like anyone else, they deserve some privacy. If a celeb is at some kind of gala event, awards show, etc., fine... blast away with the cameras. If they're having dinner or taking their kids to park or whatever, leave 'em the Hell alone and let them have a life.

Its part of the job.  There are billions of people on this planet that would LOVE to be them.  World wide fame, never having to worry about your next paycheck...  Being famous means that you will get photographed when you are out.  This is the definition of first world problems.

If they wanted a normal life they wouldn't have become famous in the first place.  I have no love for the paparazzi but when you live life better then 99% of the planet then you don't have real problems.

No, it's not "part of the job". Shooting on location, miles away from your family, that's part of the job. Marathon 24 hour shoots, that's part of the job. Having to deal with random fans when you're out, that's part of the job. Having some asshole stalk your family for their every waking moment is not "part of the job", it's the main symptom of a disease fed by assholes who thrive ob fnding out every little detail of a celebrity's life. Quit feeding these people by writing off their behavior as "acceptable".

Are we talking celebrities like Celebutaunts or the kind that got famous via sex tapes? Or celebrities that happened to have worked hard, take pride in their talent/skill set and have made it big just enough that they now have to actively avoid TMZ while leaving the dry cleaners?

Look, yes, we idolize the demi-gods of Hollywood and the music industry. It's what we do. But most people who get into the business aren't necessarily doing it to become "famous" (although there is that unfortunate subset in every group though). They do it because they actually enjoy writing and performing songs in dive bars/performing in a black box space. It's just that sometimes someone's hard work and skill set will pay off commercially and they either have a huge record deal or they landed a role on a popular TV series. I don't get how they don't warrant 'sympathy' for simply being famous for being good at something.

It's not like the Khardasians who are famous because of a slutty sister doing a slutty thing and then marketing it to find commercial success with it.

2013-12-12 12:08:32 PM
I have to side with the celebrities on this one. They're rich and famous, yeah. But that doesn't mean they have to be hounded 24/7, they're kids hounded everywhere they go and shiat made up about them in the tabloids. That would wear anyone down.

Now the people who are famous for being famous like Hilton and Karsashian, no matter what they say, if they woke up tomorrow and suddenly no one was around to take their picture, no one wrote about them and everyone left them alone, they'd jump out of a farking window.

You're right, having parents who are in movies completely validates assholes who stalk kids and take pictures of their every waking moment. Totally reasonable.

I completely reject the premise that the "price of fame" is f*cking up kids' lives.

Yes.  It is one of my daughter's favorites and it was fun the first 1,000 times I did it.  Now it's just like a bad morning commute on the bus in the dark, but I'm a sour old puss so don't let me influence you.  They've recently done a few tweaks to the ride, so it feels a little fresher than it used to.  We go every year and now I know to have the valets at the Grand California Hotel lose your car for an hour if you want to star gaze.

BTW, Ben apparently tips very well and Jennifer was very attentive to her children when securing them in their seats.  Pretty wholesome, all in all.

So you don't see any way that Mr. Affleck could avoid this? like maybe not starring in big multi million dollar blockbuster comic strip movies? No one is really chasing Steve Buscemi or insert-indie-movie-type-person-name here around?
I'm not saying papparzzi arent dicks but really, if a single mother can raise a decent kid in the ghetto while dodging bullets and what not, I think multi-millionaires can raise a child who has had some stranger take pictures of them crossing the street.
