Those kittens are not impressed whatsoever.  And their mom doesn't seem to mind running them over to chase the little robot poops.

I loved how she was picking them up in her mouth as if she was playing fetch.

How could they have failed to equip that thing with a laser pointer?

Because it could blind the cats?

I had a 26 pound Maine Coon at one time that would have left little pieces of no doubt expensive electronics strewn all over the place.
And dared you to do something about it.

I had a 7 pound tuxedo cat who would have done her best to destroy the spider bot (she'd attack anything, be it other cats, large dogs, vacuum cleaners, cheapo "animatronic" Halloween statues, my nose if I tried to sing...).  Oddly enough, her name was Spidey.

I liked the kittens initial reaction to the spider bot. Reminded me of this.

well, those cats do appear to now be sufficiently confused.

My brother once had a little torti who feared absolutely nothing. I'm not sure whether she could have destroyed the spiderbot, but she would have tried. She could not be effectively disciplined because she feared nothing. Most cats will immediately react to a squirt from a water bottle. But her? You'd pretty much have to soak her until she got disgusted with you and stopped whatever she was doing.

The only discipline method that worked when she started marking her territory was putting her outdoors (rural area, not much traffic) at night until she got the message that she was not the queen. It worked for a while but, unfortunately, she had this bad habit of chasing cars...

Sigh.

On a lighter note, the torti my mom has now, who fears the outdoors with a passion, played fetch with foil balls when she was younger. And rubber bands. She's not as energetic as she used to be which might be just as well, given how she'd get her claws caught on the carpet while running and flip herself over. She's still horrible with her claws -- she's one cat who might have benefited from being declawed in front -- but she doesn't flip herself anymore or do the crazy velcro kitty dash through the house so much.

Cats are awesome.

Hey it's cool to see the Giant Robot Project on youtube has finally gotten the toy version out for the public! The cats seem ok with it once the right toy is attached.

Having owned cats, I thought the video was pretty funny.  That said, some of you people need to check out my new website: creepycatpeople.com (you'll have fun there I promise.  Don't forget to write)

They should make this robot remotely controlled from the internet and charge me 50 cents to shoot darts at cats.  I'm thinking billion dollar industry.

I found it depressing because of the cats in the cages and the big fish in a small aquarium.  Keeping anything in a cage just seems so wrong to me.  And having a fish that is more than 50% of the size of the aquarium is like keeping a cat in a closet.  Too depressing.  I just think if you have to keep something in a cage you shouldn't have it, well with the exception of small rodents, as long as you give them some free time outside the cage.

MadMattressMack: Rusty Shackleford: How could they have failed to equip that thing with a laser pointer?

Because it could blind the cats?

They already make a tabletop laser cat toy that moves the beam around automatically.

I like to use a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range. Endless hours of entertainment there.
