Wow. that is neat.  Not incredibly useful for all the work, but certainly neat.

When I was little I had an albino pet mouse. If this was installed in my house, it would have taken about .3 seconds before I decided that Mr. Whippers needed to go on a ride.

Pneumatics are poised for a comeback.  Have a neighborhood 3D printer and a network of tubes to get JIT delivery to your home.  More reliable and weatherproof than drones.

Wow....way to re-enforce the lies you tell your children regarding the Tooth-fairy, Easter Bunny & Santa Claus.

Nah, he's just in the habit of paying out the ass on a two year contract and getting a "free" phone.

/ $35/month, no contract

I readily admit that I, in no way, could ever build that, even given very detailed instructions.  My kid will get them the old fashioned way.

Direct Link, so you don't have to give page clicks to DJ Farkle Barkle and his NutPunch Zany Morning Zoo Crew and their crappy blog that adds nothing to the video.

I don't mind indirect links, if they actually add something that I can't already get from the original YouTube page, but most of the time (particularly in this case), this is just pointless clickfodder that is actually WORSE for having it embedded.

Not all that weird. I have two Droid Incredibles laying around and turned them into a music player in my bathroom/bedroom and living room for playing satellite radio. See, smartphones have been around for awhile now, and my first Incredible was having issues, so when work sent me a second one, I retired the first. Last year I got a new phone and so both Incredibles were just "laying around". I can guarantee you plenty of people have the same situations with iPhones, not even being in the "1%". If they still function, there is no reason to get rid of either, they are very useful computers.

I know a guy that gave a chunk of his liver to his kid so the kid could, you know, live.

I think he goes at least one place in front of this guy for the best dad ever title.

Kind of like FARK?  It's just bringing the story or video or whatever to a wider audience.  Yes, FARK allows you to comment, too.  That's really all FARK brings to a story, other than maybe an alternate headline.  But the zoo crew page also lets you comment.  And they can give it another headline if they wish as well.  So, why are you on FARK?  You could have just gone to YouTube.

only if he built a robot that surgically transplanted the liver into his kid, otherwise I'm not too sure

What puts the Tooth Fairy Tube dad over the top is that he went the extra mile to have his video narrated by Peter Lorre.

Ok lets see if I got this right. I'm going to cut two gaping holes in my walls, run a maze of PVC into my attic where I also have to mount a shop vac, bore 2" holes through my wall headers, weakening the structural integrity of my home, spend upwards of $250 on supplies and waste an entire weekend just so my kid can get 1 minutes worth of entertainment sending his tooth to the tooth fairy?

I wont even cover what it's going to take to remove and repair all that mess when they're to old to use it any more.  Best dad ever? Sorry, more like biggest moron ever.

I have an iPhone 4S lying in my dresser drawer right now that's hard wired to Verizon... which doesn't exist in Canada.  I have yet to figure out what to do with it, but I know it could be useful for something...

Another use is setting up a Google Voice number and using it as a phone as long as you're on WiFi. Seriously though, I don't think a lot of people think about how much potential the phones have. Before this, I was looking at hooking up my satellite radio, running an antenna outside, etc. Instead, I have the phone hooked up to be stereo and always on a charger, so I can just stream it. I also saw a DIY for the web-controlled garage door openers, using the phone and a remote desktop client to control the garage door and the camera to check if it was open or closed. Seems like a 1% application for sure, but I've had times where I had to turn around to make sure the door closed, so I might even use that setup some day.

So, just set up a web page, create graphics, build and program an arduino controller.  He makes it sound so easy!

Seriously, cutting holes in your drywall and drilling joists for a "tooth fairy" system that you'll maybe get two years out of.

I keep wondering if there isn't a module I can add on to my remote car starter so that I can control it from the old iPhone...

Cute, but stop posting from idiotic radio stations and go right to the source. It's bad enough radio and tv keep stealing all their content from the web as is.

Could be useful. Just need to use bigger pipes so the wife can send beer and food from the kitchen to any room in the house.

I know this is great and everything, but these vids always just piss me off.

Want to know what I do in my spare time? WORK. So my kids can afford to go to 150,000k a year colleges when they're 18...

Yes I live in CT and I am NOT a hedge fund manager so I have to work one job and run a side business to afford a 2100 sq ft house with enough leftover for the college funds.

My concern was mostly that he drilled the joists.  Hope he knows what he's doing.  I've seen enough diy shows to know you aren't supposed to do that to certain ones.
