I'm gonna go with C) Shanahan wants to know if Cousins is worth signing at his next Offensive Coordinator gig.

elguerodiablo: I think defenses really adjusted to the read option as well.  Kaepernick is having the same kind of slump.

FWIW, I think there are more holes in Kaepernick as a QB than than Griffin. Kaepernick's passing accuracy and ability to read defenses is inferior to Griffin's, IMO.

This is how the Cardinals may very well win their last few games. Seattle and San Francisco may be resting their major player for the playoffs.

The Cardinals always finish strong.

Nabb1: Last year, RGIII is injured, so Shanahan starts him. This year, RGIII is healthy, so Shanahan benches him. Makes sense.

/Okay, that O-line is so hazardous to his health they should bear a warning label.

Last year, needed to win out to make playoffs.   This year, couldn't make playoffs if the rest of the teams in the league can no longer play.

Big difference in how any coach treats his starting QB.

That being said, RG3 is about as small a percentage of the problem here as possible.  Kyle Shanahan couldn't game plan his way against a 5 year old in Chutes n ladders, the O-line can't pass block girl scouts, the team led (might even still lead) in dropped passes, and the defense couldn't tackle a 90 year old with palsy.

You couldn't put Manning or Brady behind center here and hope to get any performance.  But yeah RG3 needs to do some growing up in the NFL.  He doesn't throw the ball away enough, he forces some passes on the run that he shouldn't, and he takes too long to make reads on many occasions.  I don't know if the injury has gotten to his head, or if its just a part of learning to become more of a pocket type passer and he just needs time that he didn't get in the offseason to work on.    But the media putting the blame at his feet is WAY over blown.

SilentStrider: Shanahan is trying to get fired instead of just quitting. If he's fired, he gets the remaining money on his contract. If he quits, he gets nothing,

Shanahan got a (well-deserved) mountain of shiat for playing RG3 through injury. Not repeating the error is to be commended.
