Is this the thread where everybody curbstomps Detroit while it's already down, repeating all the same tired jokes and stereotypes like retarded parrots, perpetuating Detroit's overblown and undeserved global reputation as America's Baghdad, further stifling any interest from outside businesses and potential residents?

It is?

Carry on.

I'd prefer that to the "It's not that bad" lies that are usually in Detroit threads.

/Lived there for 2 years.  It's that bad and worse.

I was born there. Although I no longer live there, it makes me really said that the city that was once a French fort before the United States even existed, the city that was the engine for 20th Century growth, the city that gave us Motown, Bob Seger, Mitch Ryder, and a host of other great musicians is now just a joke for everyone to take a poke at. This is how America shows gratitude and respect.

This.

Downtown's alright to visit for a game.
White Suburbs with racist cops are the single best value for white collar workers anywhere in the country.
Everything in the middle is Mad Max and exactly as bad as you're thinking.

/And then the city government is the most corrupt, racist, stupid bunch of stereotypical union thugs you will ever see in your life.

I never said "It's not that bad". It's bad. Detroit has serious problems. But Detroit is not the "mad max" and "robocop" and "Baghdad" bullshiat that get spouted by retards who for the most part have never been within 1000 miles of the place. I will never say "It's not that bad" or sugarcoat Detroit's problems, all I've ever said is that the stupid jokes are not helping. They are in fact having a measurably negative impact. So it's OK if you people have completely written the place off, as long as you shut the fark up when the subject comes up. It might help those of us who still give a shiat just a teensy little bit.

But it's just Detroit, so who cares? Anyone still stupid enough to live there deserves whatever they get, right? robocop, ocp, etc etc
