If a Republican was President, the 13.2 percent figure would be trumpeted in every headline.

From 1/89 to 1/93, during Bush I and his recession, I didn't read a single headline about U-3.  It was U-6, U-6, U-6, over and over and over again.  Then Clinton took office, and you know what?  Back to U-3.  Pretty coincidental.  Or was it?

Really? You remember what kind of unemployment statistics newspapers were quoting when you were a teenager 20+ years ago? I don't suppose you have any series of citations to back that up, do you?

The BLS hasn't been covering up the U6 rate. They've been reporting it since they changed their formulas back in 1994, and they were reporting the U7 prior to that when they first started reporting on unemployment back in 1940.

Back in late 2007 and early 2008, I publicly predicted (numerous times) that we were entering the deepest recession since the 1929 Great Depression. At the exact moment I wrote about this, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke was testifying in front of Congress that the economy was fine, we were not in recession, and there was little threat of a serious economic decline.

Interesting. You mean during the end of BUSH's term, and the guy BUSH nominated for the position?

As for your "fraud", all I see is new businesses going in around us. Offices, commercial buildings, restaurants, stores, etc. Maybe you see a "bad economy" because you just want to sell books? Either that, or it's because you are EXTREMELY bad at what you do.

I think that's a Sunday. Bloody Sunday.

First, are the numbers even real? We recently found out in that in the run-up to the 2012 Presidential election, Census Bureau employees purposely reported hundreds of thousands of new jobs that did not exist.

Right out of the gate with a discredited "scandal"? The derp is strong with this one...

If you really think about it, almost everyone is unemployed for at least 50% of every day Some people spend over 65% of every day not working

2013-12-11 10:50:58 AM
You'd have thought they would move on to workforce participation, that's the biggest downer with respect to the otherwise mildly encouraging jobs numbers.  A lot of that is explained by Baby Boomers retiring but something like 3/4 of the people dropping out aren't retirement age yet.  Maybe Beck & Co aren't picking up on that narrative because the MSM is already talking about that and not U6?

2013-12-11 10:51:26 AM
Yes well wait until he finds out corporate incentives, i.e. tax breaks, infrastructure improvements, etc..., don't work. They are only redistributing wealth from the tax payers to the corporation in a weird form of corporate welfare that no politician wants to acknowledge.

http://www.capitalnewyork.com/sites/default/files/131115__Incentive_ St udy_Final_0.pdf

The reason the "economy" is supposedly in recovery or doing well, yet people are hurting and demand is down is that we are being lied to by politicians and corporations.

And if you count all the other jobs they aren't doing the unemployment rate is in excess of 9000%!

This argument would hold a lot more steam if, say, the Philadelphia Fed hadn't dispelled that rumor with hard evidence that retiring Baby Boomers account for basically all of the drop in the LFPR since the beginning of 2012.
