The Loudoun County sheriff's office said a shuttle driver was taken into custody and charged with robbery. He was identified as Jesus A. Jospehson, 52, of Hyattsville.

Well that explains it.  I used to work in Hyattsville.  Imagine the worst parts of Detroit in a 3 square mile area.  We'd have to clean up 40's and used condoms in the front of the office after every weekend.  The company owner was so cheap he thought leasing the building there was saving him money until all three of our vans were stolen in one weekend.

I've heard it's gotten better, but I doubt by much.  It's the shiatty part of Maryland that backs up to the shiatty part of DC.

Fark the farking super shuttle.

CSB:

One time I got picked up at 0dark hundred (4 hours before my flight) and we spent over an hour picking up other passengers before heading to the airport. Adding insult to injury, we drove right by my apartmentafter picking up the last passenger.

Good job getting your routes laid out well, farktards.

I have nothing but great limo stories, but 90% of them ended at Philly or La Guardia or JFK, which ruins the story completely.

Uh, it wasn't the super shuttle. It was an unnamed shuttle service.

Another reason not to fly. Getting held up by the airport shuttle driver on top of getting manhandled by the TSA and being robbed again at the concession stand. I mean, $4 for a bag of Kettle chips? What is THAT about?

Funny nuff, when I worked nights at a store as a kid, there was one time a woman came I to the store all freaked out. She said an airport shuttle van had been stalking her all night.

Sure enough there it was parked in the lot across the road.

We got a few taxi drivers to sort things out for her (because the cops in my city are farking worthless lazy cowards).

My sucky Super Shuttle story was after arriving into SFO late in the evening and very tired, I go up to an empty supershuttle and ask if the guy is going to my neighborhood.  He suspiciously took more than a few seconds to think about it before answering in the affirmative.  Anyhow, we wait a fairly long time where he seemed to have overloaded the van with more passengers than usual for supershuttle... and he proceeded to drop off every passenger except me in locations in a totally different part of the city.  Basically, this greedy numbnuts took well over an hour dropping people off and then going to where I live.

To put salt into the wound, while he was going from the area he did drop offs to my part of town, he goes, hey can I stop and get cigarettes at the nearest gas station?  I flipped out.  I yelled at him for lying that he was going to my part of town and that he took so G-ddamn long to drop everyone else off - so no, a-hole, you can't have your stupid cigarette break.  He was like "fine" but was rather loudy biatching about it under his breath. By the time i got home, I think I basically just threw the fare at him.

I think that was the last time I depended on Supershuttle to get to my home.

Well, that's you dumbass fault for going cheap and not getting the exclusive ride.  What did you expect would happen?

The part along Route 1 just south of College park has been redone.  Downright gentrified now.  Busboys & Poets and an Elevation Burger and more.  Franklins Brewery is still down there too.

Last time I took a Super Shuttle from LGA to Grand Central Station, the disheveled woman across from me unbuttoned the middle of her shirt and took her boob out. She didn't have any kids with her, and no, it was not attractive. The eye bleach prices are where they gouge ya.

LOL, On the Super Shuttle from SFO to my hotel I was propositioned by a rider. "She" offered to get off with with and "hang out or do whatever you want" for $1000... which "she" knocked down to $300 by the time we got to my hotel.

"I say "she" because though she was cute, tall and had big boobs (and she flashed the cleavage to me), this was San Francisco so you can't assume anything.

My experiences with SuperShuttle have been quite bad in San Fran, and quite good everywhere else.  Thanks to erratic travel patterns, it took a while for me to figure out that _city_ was the salient feature.

Many years ago, I flew into Dulles. For a meeting in Old Town Alexandria. This is way before GPS was widely available.

So, I get on the shuttle, and it is the guy's second day.  After dropping off a few folks not far form Dulles, he decides to go all the way into DC to make sure he can find the 10,000 block of U.S. 50 (basically going over 1/2 way back to Dulles). When he made that drop, I asked for his map book, and navigated him to my hotel. He did not get a tip.

3-1/2 hours.

I'm checking in at the hotel, and a colleague gets in line behind me. He's from New Jersey. Me: "So did you fly into National?" Him: "No, I drove, it's only about 3-1/2 hours."

Still, I didn't get robbed at knife point.

Even though they don't name the service, it HAS to be Super Shuttle:

The sheriff's office said the passenger was picked up in the District and driven to Loudoun, reportedly to pick up another person before going to Reagan National Airport.

District to Loudoun County - 30 miles
Loudoun County to Reagan - 32 miles
District to Reagan - right across the river

Has to be Super Shuttle.

Lsherm: I've heard it's gotten better, but I doubt by much.

Actually by quite a bit. Gentrification has begun in the downtown area and up towards Franklin's last I checked. It's not paradise by a long shot, but it is getting better.

But you are dead on about the place a few years ago. I was dating a woman who rented an art studio up there, and she would not work alone, even in broad daylight on a weekday.

Anymore, if I'm traveling for work, I just get in a cab. My last trip, the hotel said the super shuttle was $40. My cab fare was $42 with a $5 tip.Considering my flight left at 6am, I didn't feel bad using the cab.

Public transit will often beat the super shuttle.
