She's shocked at the claim that Christianity co-opted Christmas from other people?  Way to know your topic, Gretchen.

I'm Catholic, but I still know where the holidays came from. It's idiots like her that reenforce the fact that the average atheist probably does know the Bible better than the average Christian.

2013-12-10 08:22:34 PM
Come on guys! This is like the spaghetti strainer helmet thing.

It's funny when Kramer does it and it is also funny when George's dad challenges George to a wrestling match; but, is it really worth rattling Christians' cages? Fer Christ's sakes; that's animal abuse at the very least...

You can't really call conservatives' airing of grievances a Festivus observance. Not when they air grievances 365 days a year.

2013-12-10 08:23:47 PM
Festivus is perfect for Fark because I've got a lot of problems with you people!

"We don't have to have the Klan out there on Martin Luther King Day with their monuments right next to a bust of Martin Luther King," Donohue agreed.

Ignoring your idiotic false equivalency, if it's on public land and they have the proper permits yes, yes you do.

I'm sorry to be the one who has to inform you stupid cocks, but you don't get to moderate what is and isn't free speech. Now fark off.

I don't know why people get so worked up over this stuff. Maybe I spend too much time in the Internet and know better than to feed trolls. Negative attention is better than no attention to people who do things like this around the holidays.

"Why do I have to drive around with my kids to look for a nativity scenes and be, like, 'Oh, yeah, kids, look, there's baby Jesus behind the Festivus pole made out of beer cans! It's nuts!"

this outrages me as well. why the hell is there is a baby jesus ruining my festivus display?

"We don't have to have the Klan out there on Martin Luther King Day with their monuments right next to a bust of Martin Luther King," Donohue agreed. "We don't want to have neo-Nazis out there to stick it to Jews on Yom Kippur."

So, atheists are like Klan members and Nazis?

Because at the heart of the matter most people realize how utterly absurd the American style of religious practice is. It's one thing to view things like the Bible or Quran as the myths they are and make interpretations of them within the context of the era in which you live, but most people, at the end of the day, are damn well aware of the fact that nobody ever died and then came back to life, nobody ever turned into a pillar of salt, and nobody ever walked on water.

But people still don't like it when you tell them that or mock them for refusing to admit it.

Mocking people just makes you an asshole. Like I said, just ignore the assholes because being provocative is what they want.

I also am outraged by this. A pole made of beer cans. What sort of monstrous anti-Christ would drink beer from a can.

"Why do I have to drive around with my kids to look for a nativity scenes and be, like, 'Oh, yeah, kids, look, there's baby Jesus behind the Festivus pole made out of beer cans! It's nuts!"

Hey I know, take your kids to your farking Church to view your out-of-wedlock mother and child, oh yeah, and that mother had sex with HER OWN SON. I don't want to have to explain your dumb sky-God beliefs to my kids.

Lets put the Celtic/Norse origins of Christmas back into Christmas, or lets just all celebrate Santa.

Funny thing though that it is common to see images of a Jew stuck to a cross in a lot of Christian churches.
I guess it isn't the neo-nazis that the Jews have to worry about.

Am I missing a comment, or am I the first to point out that a Festivus Pole made of beer cans is utterly sacreligious? That thing has an utterly terrible strength-to-weight ratio.
