To be honest, "Everybody loves Raymond" *was* a terrible show about pusillanimus men cowering before overbearing harpy women.

She's confusing feminized men with whiners.

Schlafly's oldest son is gay. Clearly, it's all her fault, because instead of devoting most of her time to raising him, she became involved in politics, running for Congress twice (and losing twice). She later became a lawyer and spent most of the 1970s and early 1980s traveling around the country telling women that, unlike her, they should get married and become stay-at-home mothers.

So, she learned from her mistakes. Better late than never, right?

Why would men care what the hell she thinks? What the f*ck is the war on men?

I wonder how Patricia Heaton feels about this? Given she's a right wing nut and all.

Personally, I'm more interested in the exploits of her nephew Tom

No, she's still a hypocrite who doesn't practice what she preaches.

So blame "Everyone Love Gaymond".

Still has a bit to learn

I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.

It's why my grades were so low growing up.  School is now a feminizing place at which I can't possibly succeed because I'm a hetero male.  Cry for the boys.  Cry for them.

"How are these men going to gain confidence that they should chase these women and pursue them in traditional fashion for traditional means, when there's not a lot of indication that women want to be pursued that way anymore?" he asked.

"Nothing is going to happen unless women start to realize that perhaps they have pushed men away," Venker responded.

So women should have no individual aspirations and goals, be looser, and offer to throw the leg more often.  Got it.

Conservatism is a disease that not only spreads to other humans, it can infect generations as well.

This is why I say "BULL SH*T!" every time a Fark Mod tries to tell people to "have respect for the deceased's family" whenever a notorious rightwing tossbag croaks. Chances are the offspring are just as vile if not more vile than the original.

An old-timey phrase used to go "Before Satan works on his Masterpiece, he first practices with a pencil sketch".

Why would men want to pursue women in a way they don't want to be pursued?  Sounds like a strategy that will only end in disappointment and regret.

Frank and Estelle raised two boys.  Frank worked alot and was a distant father, while Marie stayed home and nurtured (to the point of smothering) the boys.

Ray gets married and has three kids.  He works.  Debra stays home to raise the children.

Season after season was dedicated to getting Robert into a functional relationship and ultimately married.  They taunted him with accusations that he might be gay.

That sitcom should have been a conservative "traditional family" wet dream.

Yes, that looks like a solid, scientific paper with lots of research behind it.

If anything, sitcom's give men unreasonable expectations.

Would any of these happen in real life?

That sums it up.
If they reversed the roles, women would be screaming louder than a Jezebel editor with a new power tool/toy.

Women have opinions. On TV. The men just take it. Obviously the fact the Raymond didn't smack the sas out of Debra every time she said some smarmy comment means he isn't a man, or a real man anyway. There are people out here that believe this and their vote counts as much as yours.

Does Subby disapprove of Phyllis Schlafly? Doesn't this make Subby, by dint of Libtard Reasoning™ (1) a misogynist (2) intolerant (3) anti-feminist and (4) prejudicial, bigoted, dogmatic and narrow-minded.

Or, is it Subby likes his women like tea? Weak and tepid?

Yeah, should have been a trip to divorce town, with a stop first at prenup lane.

Also hasn't that show been off the air for like 10 years? Why are we even talking about it. Which is what I came here to say.

That's what Phyllis wants women to be.  She should be less of a hypocrite and remove herself from the public eye and keep her woman opinions to herself.

I don't think the show had "feminized men" or was part of an imaginary war on men. It was a show about a horrible, ungrateful woman slowly choking the spark of life out of her husband. Two of the running jokes on the show were that Debra didn't like to give it up, and she was bad at being a homemaker. In the partnership set up in the show, she regularly failed to live up to her half of the deal, but the humor was almost always derived from her anger toward Ray for his perceived domestic shortcomings. If you had a friend in a marriage like that, you would encourage him to rearview that woman immediately.

Actually kind of accurate... boys have a lot more success in competitive environments, where as women benefit from social ones.  Schools have purposely changed over the last 40 some odd years to accomodate the women... and now its backfiring, as women are outnumbering men in colleges by a wider gap every year.

The "you get graded on your effort more than your results!" phenomenon was actually a direct result of feminism and equal opportunity legislation than it was the result of parents suddenly deciding to raise pussy kids.

If Schafly wants to know where women got empowered to push men away and destroy their sense of self worth, she need look no further than Sex and the City.

a group of fashion-obsessed women with unreasonable expectations drink profusely, sleep around, choose men for moneyary/physical reasons wonder why they cant find an emotionally stable, well-adjusted man.

That didn't come from Raymond.  The idea that a sitcom dad would be a doormat has been around for years.

Before even reading the article, I have to say I live in Maryland, where we had Phyllys Slaflly's less accomplished, less intelligent cousin Ellen Saurbrey run, fail and set the stage for GWB's run.

It took me until I was 40 to find a good one.

Biatches be crazy.

Side note, I found it amusing to see the soft, weak, quaffed bobblehead host act like he wasn't one of the feminized men.
