So the Headline of the Year contest starts today (probably in the next two hours, depending on how fast I can get it set up).

Before it kicks off, I want to say a quick word to thank the hundreds and hundreds of funny, clever submitters that grace Fark with their work. Anybody who's ever tried their hand at submitting can attest that it's often more frustrating than rewarding, but there's a certain joy in crafting a funny headline well, and it's more art than science most of the time. Getting a greenlight can feel like a high, and for a submitter, there are few joys greater than getting appreciation in a thread for a headline that makes other people laugh.

You guys make Fark what it is. Thank you.

Nah, I ran out of time before leaving town on Friday morning. Just got back late last night and am juggling about three different projects. Trying to get to these, but it won't happen today.

Thanks for that link, Unfreakable - I would have missed it. Is there any reason why it isn't showing up on the TF greenlit page?

Two Dogs Farking: Thanks for that link, Unfreakable - I would have missed it. Is there any reason why it isn't showing up on the TF greenlit page?

Because contests (Photoshop, Caption, Farktography) don't. Long story, but it has to do with the different timelines between approval and posting. PS contests are delayed over a week to give PSers time to create entries, and if we left them mixed, the Greenlit queue would have a dozen or more contests before you saw any of the non-contest greenlights. And the HotY contest has to be in Contests to make the single-button voting work.

So it's a long story, but that's it. Also, keep an eye out--I'll be posting the final quarter of contests for the five main subtabs (Sports, Geek, Entertainment, Politics, Business) today, and if I can get to it, the second mainpage quarterfinal thread.
