The baby Jesus has been kicked off the Air Force base.

Thanks, Obama.

so long as iconography from other religions is allowed, i have no problem with a nativity scene.

however - the air force has been notorious for hardcore proselytizing, especially in the academy, so perhaps this is for the best.

The Baby Jesus has been kicked off Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina, according to an organization who relishes any opportunity to eradicate Christianity from the U.S. military.

Troll-tastic.

Todd Starnes had been quiet for a few days.  I knew he was up to something.

You've got to hand it to him, though, he's been unable to sit for a very long time.  That takes stamina.

Considering the wacko Christian right has tried to inundate the US military with fundamentalist Christian chaplains bent on defending the notion of Armageddon warriors, it's a good thing that people are on guard against those idiots.

2013-12-10 11:42:47 AM
Part of a cleanup of religious fundamentalism in the USAF. Religion is fine but unfortunately I read that some people shoved it down one too many throats. Blame the fundies who shove their brand down everyone's throat and refuse to compromise. The military then made the decision to do things like this. One extreme led to another.

Rusty Shackleford: The part of Baby Jesus will be played by an AGM-65 Maverick.

Jesus should be the AGM-176 Griffin,  Mary the AGM-114 Hellfire missile, and Joseph the AGM-65 Maverick. Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar should be a AGM-12 Bullpup, AGM-62 Wall eye, and AGM 84 Harpoon respectively.

That is how we celebrate we Christmas in 'murica.

Fox News commentator Sarah Palin, the author of the new book, "Good Tidings and Great Joy," said what happened at Shaw Air Force base is not surprising."We see stories like this every day and yet leftwing pundits still claim that the so-called 'War on Christmas' is a figment of the imagination."

DEAR FOX NEWS: I am 38 years old. Some of my lie-beral friends say there is no War on Christmas. Papa Bill O'Reilly says, 'If you see it on FOX NEWS it's fair and balanced.' Please tell me the truth; is there a War on Christmas?
--Virginia Sue Thudpwucker

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a War on Christmas. It exists as certainly as death panels and fake birth certificates and Muslim prayer curtains exist, and you know that they abound. Alas! how dreary would be the 24-hour news cycle if there were no War on Christmas. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no shrill, overopinionated, underinformed people screaming at each other on "news" shows. The eternal light of imagined persecution that fills the intellectual void of talk shows would be extinguished.

Not believe in War on Christmas! You might as well not believe in derp! You might get your papa to hire men to watch all the checkout aisles in all the stores, but even if they did not see someone saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas," what would that prove? Nobody sees the War on Christmas, but that is no sign that there is no War on Christmas. The most real things in the world are those that obese, drug abusing, college flunk-out talk show hosts and redneck bimbo politicians, with a penchant for quitting everything they start, insist are real. Did you ever see the UN exert any kind of control over domestic policy? Of course not, but that's no proof that the blue-helmets aren't going to roll down your street and take your guns away and force you to read the Koran and stop you from spanking your kids and burn down your Nativity scene.

No War on Christmas! Thank God! it lives, and it lives forever. A thousand years from now, VIRGINIA, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, it will continue to make glad the heart of 24-hour news channels with time to fill and a partisan narrative to push.

You are correct; atheists are continually persecuting Christians and denying freedom of speech by opposing government funded endorsements of fundamentalist Christianity. This incident is another in a series of attacks against Christianity; previously, atheists have unfairly complained to end the practice of commanding officers ordering those in the service to attend religious events.

About a year ago, as I was leaving for work one morning, I saw this in my neighborhood on trash day:

i41.tinypic.com
That's the Baby J & Gang awaiting the trash truck, sandwiched between a trash can and a recycler. A few weeks later I asked my neighbor if he'd had a sudden change in religion or something. He said, no, they were just old and falling apart. Good thing Fox "News" didn't get a hold of this picture.

That was a nice ending. A reminder that when lives on on the live, you can count on this Administration to think about poll numbers, politics, and spin first.

Apparently the air force has been thoroughly sissified to give into this group of assholes, but the rest of the services appear to not be caving into the demands of these arrogant fanatics.
