Dansker: And we're in a thread about how right wing asshats will somehow use a polite handshake as an excuse to criticize the US President, so quoting from a well known hangout for right wing asshats seems perfectly relevant and on topic. What's the problem?

As I said, feel free. But maybe don't quote a comment about this particular Fark thread as the jumping off point.

Cat Food Sandwiches: The great thing is that soon the Castros will be dead, and the good people of Cuba can rejoin the rest of the world.  Their failed experiment is the greatest testimony to the craziness of communism.

Where's the failure? I mean, it seemed to work out for both Castros pretty well. I'm certain some of the original Cubans that didn't run off are happier than they were under the Batista regime.

MadHatter500: Lord_Baull: Evidently some people have never been to a funeral.

/laughter is the best medicine you tards. Anyone that says they've never laughed at one is a liar.

Apparently my family didn't get that memo.  Same with my wife's.  Dour, dull, dead.  All D's at our funerals.  But then, it was all for dour, fun-adverse people.  Laughter would have been out of place at those workaholic's funerals.

Some people just get goofy about funerals. A (second) cousin's wife got upset at my grandma's burial because we were yucking it up. Nevermind that she barely knew my grandma and that my grandma had passed away two months earlier (she was cremated and we had her buried in North Dakota) so it wasn't exactly an open wound for us. Turns out that funerals in her family are solemn affairs. So it goes.

And then there was my wife's aunt (fundie Catholic) that decided there wouldn't be any beer at Grandpa's wake. I didn't know the man that long, but when we went out to dinner it was a requirement that the place had a full bar so that he could have a pre-dinner martini and then a beer with dinner. When he got sick and eventually had to have a feeding tube, he would have someone rub a little Jack on his lips so he could have a taste. My wife's uncles pretty much said "fark that" and picked up beer on the way to the house after the burial.

It is not particularly effective, useful or interesting to counter someone's claim that few Farkers will actually criticize and overreact to Obama's handshake by pointing out that OTHER people on OTHER websites did.

So, again, if you want to do the whole "Hur hur - dem otherside morons shore is reetardit!" by pointing and laughing at Freepers and Breitbarters, that's your bag. I think it's sorta dull and predictable, but each to his own. But it is unrelated to people discussing how Farkers behave.

Who cares? Communism leads to a tiny elite controlling the majority of the resources.

In Capitalism, is there any effective different? The Party, The Corporation, The King? Does it really matter?

It's far more on topic than telling other Farkers what they should or shouldn't post. And responding to a headline that is not about Farkers by insisting that everybody only talk about Farkers is far more boring than pointing and laughing at Freepers.

True story.. the grandpa referenced in the story died the week before our wedding. Our wedding week was Rosary on Tuesday, Funeral/Burial on Wednesday, Rehearsal on Friday, Wedding on Saturday.

We had a family dinner at the in-laws house the night of the funeral. Most of the folks who went to the funeral came to the house and we got really, really drunk that night. It was like a much needed release valve for everyone involved.
