BinderWoman: I'm hearing more teapartier outrage over Obama's selfie than I am over the handshake.

He doesn't appear to be the instigator. Anyway, all three of them look a little childish. Outraged? Not in the least. I shook my head twice and moved on.

Lets take a walk over to Breitbart or Drudge and see how little they care over there.

And? I'm talking about Fark.
Why would anyone care what's going on at the derp factories?

Because the thread headline wasn't specifically about Farkers.

The great thing is that soon the Castros will be dead, and the good people of Cuba can rejoin the rest of the world.  Their failed experiment is the greatest testimony to the craziness of communism.

Yes,I get your point. Why mention the thousand points of conservative fake outrage generated on a daily basis when one can point to a meaningless Fark thread as proof of whatever meaningless point you're trying to divert attention to. Point.

cptjeff: John Foster Dulles deserves the bulk of the credit. Certainly far more than Marshall or Acheson, who were providing aid to Europe to try and win them over from Communist influence. The "you're with us or you're with the communists" binary crap that led to us propping up dictators and whatnot was JF Dulles' great contribution to world history.

And you're right, Allen Dulles was a treat too.

What made it worse was that one was Sec. of State and the other head of CIA so the CIA would start a revolution in some country and Dulles would come out and say "See! The people are throwing off the Communist oppressors! Clearly we're better!"

When discussing Fark and Farkers, I find it entirely rational to limit the discussion to Fark and Farkers.

However, if you wish to discuss something else, feel free to do so.

But maybe you shouldn't quote a post that was specifically about Fark and Farkers while doing so?

Not every one. The conservative version:

1. Headline proclaims that liberals are outraged about something
2. Liberal farkers explain that we're not outraged, we're laughing at conservatives for how dumb they are.
3. Conservative farkers try to convince us that no, we really are outraged.

I follow this stuff closely.   Castro admited that communism was a failure back in 2003.   They are in a transition of power, Cuba opens up with a hybrid system like Vietnam/China in 2016.   The world bank is already making moves to open up lines of credit to them.

Communism is dead, stop beating that horse.

And we're in a thread about how right wing asshats will somehow use a polite handshake as an excuse to criticize the US President, so quoting from a well known hangout for right wing asshats seems perfectly relevant and on topic.
