(Deadline)   NBC feels that since The Sound of Music did so well, they're going to make a live musical show an annual franchise. So to all of you who watched the trainwreck, hope you're happy   ( divider line

Persnickety: Back in 2007, MTV taped the live Broadway version of Legally Blonde, promoted the hell out of it and broadcast it uncut during prime time.  It's based on the reasonably well known movie, targeted at MTV's main demographic.  The songs were snappy, the actors were on target, the choreography was upbeat and live audience really added to the energy. But with no Reese Witherspoon or other big name star, the ratings were terrible and they've never done anything like that since.

MTV showing something music-related? Yeah, right. Pretty sure this never happened.

greentea1985: As long as they get a better cast next time, I'm ok with this. My issue with their live Sound of Music was that I didn't like Carrie Underwood's acting and didn't feel she was the right person for the role. Carrie can sing, but she can't act. If they cast someone else, I'm perfectly fine with it. I wouldn't mind a live-action Singing in the Rain if it was cast well.

My wife loves theater and 'The Sound of Music' in particular and spent the whole thing chatting how bad it was with her friends.  They all agreed that the Mother Superior (who apparently has like 5 tonys) and the Baroness were awesome, but everyone else she reallllly hated.

It was really funny to me just how much she hated the children.  Like HATED.  At one point she yelled "fark you gretel" at the TV.

Clueless NBC Exec: Muppets? In a Broadway musical? I don't need to see any more. That's an instant family classic! Green light it immediately and schedule "Avenue Q" for Christmas 2014!

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian star in "Beauty & The Beast -- LIVE!"

I'm a-gonna let you finish,
I'm a-gonna let you finish,
Cause this song is full if win-ish,
If your candlesticks
Look like fish dicks
I will suck 'me cause I kin-ish
See my watch shaped like a crotch
I got it from Kim's sister the Sasquatch
It's quite shiny
Like her hiney
And dispatches year-old Scotch.
My album sales clearly pales
I can't sell out local jails
Though my ego's still enormous
I'm a megaflop of fails
I'm a-gonna let you finish...
I'm a-gonna let you finish...

They can go full Rifftrax and do "The Apple."

Eh, I'm not a big musical fan, but this seems kind of harmless considering the onslaught on shiatty reality programming tv is usually under.

They could do Into the Woods. I would love to hear the comments from people who let their kids keep watching after the first half.

Actually, it is a good life lesson. Actions have consequences. Maybe kids should watch it.
