Sad, just barely beating out obvious.  Chinese leadership is more concerned about their own citizens than external threats.

FTA
"Zhang Xuezhong, a lecturer at East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai, says he was notified orally of the university's decision Monday and that he plans to defend himself with a lawsuit against the school once he receives written notice. "

Doubling down on death, I see.

And this surprises who, exactly? Apparently subby was caught off guard, as was the author of TFA..

Meanwhile, they are kicking journalists out of the country for daring to suggest the ruling class in the country and the leadership of the Communist Party are provided a better quality of life than the general public.

They are becoming more and more paranoid about criticism. FTFA above:

I spent some time with a senior Chinese diplomat recently, and when I asked what motivated the threat of expulsion, the diplomat said that the Times and Bloomberg were seeking nothing short of removing the Communist Party from power, and that they must not be allowed to continue. That argument surprised me: I had expected a bland procedural defense-this was a blunt expression of fear.

They're communist in name only, but Authoritarian Market Socialist China doesn't have the same ring to it.

My bad. It's more "Authoritarian Market-Capitalism with a socialist twist" China.
They really haven't been Communist since Xiaoping

Actual modern examples of socialism in China:
about as many as in the U.S., if that.

Plenty of boot stamping on a human face forever, but corporate boots.

Worse than that, they have even more corruption than the US so it's "local government official boots" that are more or less owned by the corporations that make them officers or otherwise bribe them. Many officials in China have become very rich and powerful, and even control their own corporations, because of this situation.

Ok, the US isn't THAT much different... Senators and representatives are almost entirely rich, somehow, and I can tell you it isn't from finding hidden treasure.

yea??  well here's some bad news for ya'.   the Communist Party of China has all the Power.  they make all the important appointments in the government and military.  they have the Wealth.  they control the news media.  they spy on their citizens.

who told you that Propaganda?   your crony captitalist Owners who own you and the "news" you get on TV.

China is a Communist State with a hybrid free enterprise market system.  period.

but don't tell the American Crony Capitalists that because they love all that cheap commie chinsee labor and they don't want to be assoiated with doing business with them.

btw, the Chinese People are just like any other people.  their government stinks.  just like our government which is owned/controlled by big business and the wealthy.  Democracy is no where to be found in America.

you're welcome.

You know, I could get behind a "always vote lowest net-worth" principle in elections.
