The photographer Hirosho Sugimoto used to take pictures of the AMNH dioramas.  I swear I stared at the one below for 10 minutes trying to decide if it was real or not.  The combination of the diorama's realism and the black-and-white photography rendered it perfectly on the borderline between "real" and "fake", even up close.

I did not hit a paywall for that article.

Do you flush unwanted cookies periodically?  I delete all cookies every time I close my browser, except for a few sites I give explicit permission to save stuff on my computer.
