Once again, an innocent man is set up by the system.  Will his persecution never end?

That should start it off.

More like two million.  But that's only three million away from a 5 million book deal.

And be honest - you'd at least read articles about the book.

It'll be tough to get a conviction with her up on the stand saying it was a big misunderstanding and Zimmerman never did anything wrong. Why would the DA move forward to a trial he knows that he will lose?

2013-12-09 09:16:42 PM
I feel for the guy. I followed the trial and honestly the evidence against him was practically nothing. All the hate on him mostly stems from outrage generated by the media and racial divides and not facts. He may have not been perfect before all this went down, and none of us are, but it seems like the events of that night have ruined his life forever whatever happened. To a lot of people he'll always just be a murderer and that's the social stigma he has to live with for the rest of his life, and no doubt someone who is just constantly persecuted like that is likely going to end up becoming what it is they are accused of without proper guidance.

The thing that annoys me most is that I'm a liberal myself, and most of my fellow liberals seem to disagree with me on this. I'll probably be called a troll just for saying this. But the man had a fair trial and the trial proved out that he had a valid case for self defense, and a jury of his peers unanimously agreed on that point. With this one guy we're apparently ready to abandon the legal system and evidence and call for a lynch mob for reasons I have yet to figure out.

You can if there's no corroborating witness, which is what this sounds like.  They can use her statement on the night of the arrest, but without any testimony he'll walk.

He seemingly can get women easily. And can keep them despite his behavior. How much must I suck to not even be able to get interest from anyone? Maybe it's time to start shooting unarmed people and assaulting them. Should improve my luck.

I know - it's crazy.

Who would've thought that some people would have a problem with a wannabe mall cop shooting and killing an unarmed kid after he started losing a fight that he started and getting completely away with it???

What's this world coming to?

Not for nothing but the guy only shot one black teen where as multiple women have made up stories to get him in trouble with the law.

Women, they are worse than racists.

If you really think that's all it was, you either didn't follow the trial/evidence at all, or have no capacity for complex thought.

It's that mandatory "someone goes to jail on a DV call" that causes the problem. That and the person going to jail is always the man. Always.

It's amazing that seasoned prosecutors were unable to even come close to establishing that scenario at trial. The state of Florida should have let you try it.

His "peers" were all white women.

Except for one Puerto Rican who said that he got away with murder, but that she felt she had no choice but to go along with the other jurors.

Yay! The system works!

So it's about race then? If there had been black jurors he would have been convicted and it would have been correct? Because all the white women were racist and the minority woman was helpless in the presence of a bunch of white women? Is that what you are implying? That in a system where both sides could choose their own jurors to agree upon, they managed to pick a pack of racists?

and he has book deals and other things lined up.
not to mention his lawsuits against the state of Fla.

I would probably be classified as a liberal as well.  I loathe Zimmerman for a variety of reasons, but I do agree in that, the trial was a dog and pony show, and had no business ever going to trial, if THAT was all the evidence they had.  Now, had they been able to prosecute him for being a giant douche - there was way more evidence of that.  However, the fact remains that, while the encounter itself between the two is only known by two people - our justice system requires facts, and there just were not enough facts about how what went down happened, and Zimmerman should have been released, based on the case presented.

Now, again - given Zimmerman's behavior prior and post trial, the guy's got severe issues.  He's cataclysmically self-unaware, and making good life choices is clearly not in his wheelhouse.  Those character flaws, however, are not crimes.

However, I suspect, given his penchant for head-up-ass stupidity when it comes to going full retard within the bounds of his 2nd amendment rights, that Zimmerman will be on the defendants' end of a murder trial again in the not-so-distant future.
