bdub77: Pravda has been around for a while now.

It means Truth

2013-12-09 08:05:22 PM
This isn't about Pravda.

And the Bad Old Days seem a little closer, all of a sudden.

2013-12-09 08:12:39 PM
Remarks he made last year resurfaced during this year's debate over the new prohibitions on "propaganda" of nontraditional sexual relationships. "I think it is too little to fine gays for homosexual propaganda," he said. "They should be forbidden from donating blood, sperm. And in the case of an automobile accident, their hearts should be buried in the ground or burned."

There were calls for a criminal investigation for his remarks, but none were undertaken. Mr. Kiselyov denied that he or the remarks had been homophobic.

Wow. Just...wow.

"I understood that objective journalism, distilled, is absolutely not in demand," he said in the interview. "The basic difference between post-Soviet and Western journalism is that for us it is necessary to create values and not to renew them, to produce values and not to reproduce them, as is basically done in the West."

WTF?

2013-12-09 08:13:51 PM
Just didn't seem necessary. There are plenty of pro-Putin/fascist news outlets in the west. He's just being fiscally conservative.

Considering that we have no state news agencies here in the United States (just because they don't agree with you doesn't mean they're state news agencies), I nominate this question the stupidest question I've read today.

I'm really hoping some Russian idiom was lost in translation here.  Otherwise, Putin is even dumber than W.

Sorry I don't find threadshiatting funny.

What I did find funny was earlier today when in one thread, you whined about liberals dismissing things without reading it, then in the very next thread, you dismissed something without reading it.

You're not clever. You're not funny. You're a terrible, boring, predictable troll.

That wasn't Putin who said that. That was just the guy he tapped to head the News Agency. Not much improvement, but still...

It's gonna be so funny decades from now when I try to explain to my grandkids what Fox News was like. They probably won't believe me, even though they'll get to watch all the clips in history class.

It'll be extra funny if they have the day off of school for Barack Obama Day.

Oh yeah, we just LUUUVVV Obama and never question whatever he'd do.  I'm sure if he does something it would be correct because he's black, and we love black people because we're Democrats and we're the real racists.  Gobama!

Basically, Putin is having a very hard time because he has had to give up all the old enemies (mainly "Imperialism", but also Arabs, Jews, etc) so he's having to struggle to create new ones.  He can't just scape-goat the entire "West" for Russia's problems, and he REALLY can't scape-goat their main cause (GoldmanSachs) so he needs to make up some specific group of western liberals that he can pin their problems on. Check out the insanity the Russians have been pulling over the Ukraine.

Russians love their dictators. At least, until they decide to string them up and install a new set of dictators.

and Americans love their Big Business/Wealthy dictators.  except they admire them and would never string them up because, one day, americans believe they too will be wealthy.  so much for belief.

what's the difference between that and pooty poot??
