I always find it audacious that the GOP's point man for African-American outreach is the guy who hired this guy:

...something something Al Sharpton... real racist...

Next.

A little exaggeration there eh subby?  Looking at the footage clearly shows this was not a mostly white audience.  It was a mostly older, male, white audience.

Why was that guy in Detroit??

It's just a terrible coincidence that all of the African-Americans they called happened to be Afrikaaners

You're either being deliberately deceptive or unwillingly obtuse, subby, and either way it's conduct unbecoming. This is a pre-outreach meeting, where they reach out to the people who will ultimately be doing the reachout to the people they actually want to reach. Once they've reached all these people with their reachout message, these people will become reachers themselves. They'll reach out and around and amplify the message everywhere they go, and then those people they reach will continue, on and on in one continuous communicative wave. Have you ever thrown a pebble into a still pond, subby? There's the first splash, then a thousand ripples spreading out in an ever-embiggening circle. This? This was their splash, subby. Now close your eyes and wait for the ripple to take you.

I guess the message that blacks should want jobs instead of food stamps didn't resonate.

Did they serve watermelon and fried chicken?

The GOP is demographic toast.

With white bread, of course.

2013-12-09 07:11:29 PM
I would guess that most of the people they were targeting for the event, just assumed it was a Trap since its the GOP.

"Hey, Lois, look. The two symbols of the Republican party: an elephant and a big fat white guy who's threatened by change."

Well if Detroit is 83% black and they held a minority outreach which drew mostly white people.... Sounds like mission accomplished to me

/or not

2013-12-09 08:13:07 PM
Nobody does outreach quite like the GOP. Truly amazing to behold.

It is pretty pathetic when you have to be jealous of Al Sharpton enough to do things like this.

Because if you really didn't want to, the ripple would have been shut down right from the start.

So a guy representing the party that wanted to let GM and Chrysler to bankrupt with no safety net and has driven the push for the entire city to declare bankruptcy and screw thousands of employees out of their pensions isn't popular with the majority of the citizens of that city?  Color me shocked.

It was kind of like when that dope running against Corey Booker (I can't remember his name, and I don't feel like looking it up now) for the Senate in New Jersey had RAND PAUL, who argued against disaster relief after Sandy, and Rick Perry, who ran ads on New Jersey TV and radio trying to lure jobs away to Texas, campaigning for him.  I think the Republican Party is just so used to being in their echo chamber they have no idea how objectionable some of their leading figures are to a lot of voters.

FTA:The Michigan Republican Party is seeking to increase its visibility in Democratic- and minority-heavy Detroit, and last week, it brought Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) to the city to open the party's African-American Engagement Office.
