Seriously, NPR?  A cabal of monocle-wearing industrialists is going to be business-savvy enough to know that you BUY a robot, not hire it!  Hiring is for undocumented immigrants.

So, basically exactly how the farming industry doesn't raise animals.

Who the robot can turn into sausages the moment the it becomes more economical than the meatbags.

Cows are about as self aware as your average fence post. They've been domesticated so long that most couldn't survive in the wild. I know, I know; what about the Texas longhorns that escaped captivity and lived? We're talking 1 in 10 making it.

/ that's not to say all cows are dumb; but, it isn't exactly like they slaughter us for meat

"It probably also wasn't produced by a robot animal killer hired by an evil cabal of monocle-wearing industrialists"

Well, in point of fact.... google for "chicken killing machine" if you don't think your dinner was produced by a robot animal killer.  My wife watched one of those videos of zillions of baby birds being massacred by one of those poultry sweepers at a slaughterhouse and quit buying chicken overnight (thanks a lot, internets).

If you'd like something with more gleaming metal and less dead fuzzy chicks, consider the catalog of our full line of robot poultry killers: http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/chicken-killing-machine.html  (50 pages).

I pick my steers out with my neighbor and split the meat.

umm...the overwhelmingly vast majority of beef is killed on an automated assembly line.  Might not be any monocles involved, but...if it is automated, is it that far off to call it a robot animal killer?

Same with chicken and turkey.  Not sure about hogs

Rip off the hide an horns wipe its ass and trot it across the fire.

Beef is on the menu

2013-12-09 04:44:46 PM
Not really. We buy our beef and pork from neighbors, have it processed locally, and throw it in a chest freezer. We raise our turkeys and meat chickens ourselves. It's cheaper, tastes better, and is probably healthier.

Cheap only if you don't consider your time and effort an investment. How much time and effort do you put into raising and processing your meat? People always forget that those are a commodity. I'm not saying you shouldn't, especially since you enjoy it and it probably tastes delicious but it may not actually be cheaper than working an extra hour a week at the office to get money to buy meat.

Funny NPR. You forget about the work of Temple Grandin. An amazing person that you have run several stories about.

Including: http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2010/01/temple_grandins_improbable_jo u .html

She is leading the way in designing more humane slaughter houses. Which does a couple of things. It makes people who care about how livestock is treated feel a little better and it makes faceless corporations happy because when you don't stress out the animals, the houses run quicker and more efficiently. In other words, more profitably.

When are vegans and vegetarians going to learn that I don't care about the production of my food. If it makes it past the FDA and onto my plate, I'm probably going to eat it, and nothing you can say, no video about the horrors of slaughterhouses, no article about the sadness of cows, no protest in front of a restaurant is going to change my mind.

I like meat. I am an omnivore. If you take meat out of the restaurants, I will kill it myself and eat it. You CANNOT stop me from enjoying meat any more than you can stop me from enjoying sex, breathing, or sleeping. It ain't happening so GIVE IT UP.

When I chow down on a bacon cheeseburger, porcine and bovine happiness is the furthest thought from my mind.  People who get squeamish over food production should stick to eating their legumes and greens and not interfere with the carnivores.

I don't think you fully understand the mind of the PETA crowd. It isn't about stopping you from eating meat. It isn't even about 'saving' the animals. It is about them feeling superior to everyone else. It's an ego trip for them.
