A quick glance says Tennessee is top 10 in pass yards allowed/game.

So it matters that he does it against a good team (which may obtain that status with a solid offense and run defense) and not against a team with a good pass defense?

So over the next few years when Manning's playoff record improves and Brady's tanks, that debate will be finally settled, eh?

2013-12-09 11:09:39 AM
Ummm.... The narrative was that he lost to Brady because he isn't good in cold weather. If he is saying that this game shows he is good in cold weather, then that means he is also saying that he lost to Brady because Brady is just straight up better than him. Way to insult yourself, moron.

2013-12-09 11:10:04 AM
He also got the ball back on the 21 yard line with 1:47 to go and opted to kneel for the win instead of padding his season TD record, even knowing Welker will miss next week against the Chargers.

And the narrative that every single one of his myriad playoff losses is someone else's fault can stay out in the sunshine.

Yeah, but the narrative also ignores the fact that football is actually a team sport (despite what ESPN would have us believe).

Who is likely to have a better post season record this year.

That said if peyton plays beyond next year I'd be surprised.

2013-12-09 11:20:06 AM
We decided 15 years ago that Peyton was never going to become "the one", so therefore everything he does must be bent to fit that narrative. Similarly, Brady was anointed "the one", and all his failings must be bent to fit that narrative as well.

Did anyone hear that Payton Manning can't play in the cold?  I heard it from Skip Bayless and Steven Smith so it must be true.

It's such a stupid argument when you make fun of a team or QB for losing multiple times in the playoffs when the alternative is never making it there. The guy was good enough to take his team to the post season 14 out of 16 seasons. You can't win 'em all.

Right, I was trolling a bit. But honestly judging by this season The first half of Brady's career looked like Montana 2.0 but the second half is starting to look like Marino 2.0.

Yes, Peyton was VERY worried about the 5-8 Titans turning into the 10-3 Patriots and not at all padding his yards for the season record, got it, lol.

You think Peyton trusts his defense?? They're ranked 29th in pass rush. And yes, I definitely think the 5-8 Titans could score 17 points in 4 minutes. The 3-8 Vikings and 6-6 Ravens combined for five touchdowns in the final 125 seconds of Sunday's game. The NFL is awesome dude. Maybe you should watch it more closely. Remember when the Colts rallied with 4 min to go and came back from 35-14 in Tampa to win 38-35? I'm sure Peyton remembers anything is possible with ticks left on the clock.

Oh no. The gall of the guy. Not humble when talking to the local radio guy (whose colleague then ran immediately to the vomit trough that is Twitter to post the quote). Seriously, how many people listen to 850 KOA here in Denver to hear Dave Logan ask your normal, boring post-game questions that get the same normal post-game answers? It's not like Peyton dialed up ESPN and said this.

And then, *passing* when up by 2 scores? That's downright asshole behavior right there!

Hey folks, if you're just joining us this NFL season, the Broncos throw to gain 1st downs. They're pretty good at it. They actually have a philosophy to try to stay out of 3rd down entirely. They could have just kicked a field goal and still been up by 3 scores. As it is, throwing helps them gain 1st downs (either by getting it outright or setting up a short run) and keeps the clock moving and keeps the ball out of the Titans hands.

Here's the final meaningful drive. Starts at 8:13 left in 4th

- run
- pass for 1st down
- run
- pass incomplete
- pass short

Now its 4th down @ the 18. Do you kick? Puts you up 3 scores, but still plenty of time left on the clock. Broncos go for it.

- Run, 1st down
- Pass incomplete
- Run
- Pass
- Run TD

Drive takes 5 minutes off the clock.

Yes.  Any team can have a lucky couple of minutes.  You've never actually watched football, have you?  A poster of Tom Brady shirtless on the ceiling of your room doesn't make you an actual fan.

Yes, it is swell. Because at that point the game is over if he chooses to end it, which he did, instead of running up the score of getting another easy pass TD to pad his record (which he's now 6 shy of, instead of 5, because he ended the game. BC HE IS SWELL.

Are you referring to the 07' Pats when, for example, they beat the Redskins 52-7 and scored 14 pts in the 4th and 2 weeks later beat the Bill 56-10 with another 14pts in the 4th?

Yeah, there's absolutely no reason they might want him to take it easy for a couple of weeks.  I mean it's not like he's got a bone bruise on his ankle that could use some time to heal.  And they definitely don't have a RB they drafted in the 1st round this year that could use some experience during the run up to the playoffs.

??????????That pass to Welker was in the 1st qtr when Denver was down 7. That has nothnig to do with Peyton running up the score or padding his TD record. The last Denver score was Manning handing the ball of to Monte Ball at the 5 yard line. That's Peyton not padding his TD record. Then kneeling the ball with 1:47 to go from the 21 yard line is him not running up the score. Peyton Manning is swell, admit it.

Admittedly, I've been a Colts fan since 1984, take my thoughts for whatever you'd like to take them for.

The year Peyton Manning threw 49 TDs the Colts were blowing out so many teams that Manning was on the bench for the 4th quarter of some games.  I think he missed the equivalent of almost 2 games doing so.  That's called class.  The stats you above cited are running up the score to pad stats and embarrass your opponent.  That is classless and that's synonymous with Belichick and the Patriots IMO.
