Well...it's true. The GOP fought tooth and nail against Obamacare, the least we can do is give them credit for fighting it.

These GOP States opted to penalize the health sector and health insurance holders for the free riders rather than have the Federal Government pay for it.

They are screwing the insured, screwing the health care providers and screwing those responsible enough to have insurance for absolutely no reason.

Tie this in with the GOP comments from last week about cutting the minimum wage (or just freezing it) and you've got the start of your next election cycle right there.

Ding ding ding.  The centerpiece of the Democratic platform for 2014 should be a $10/hr minimum wage.

I think he is arguing that the GOP did it for reasons you never bothered to list - like in AD 2101, war was beginning.  All your medicare are belong to us!  Somebody set us up the healthcare!  Hahaahaha make your time.  Every aca, for great justice!

The right hates everything about Obamacare because they have so much to lose if it succeeds. Obama slapped the right silly on his first inauguration day, and they've been fighting tooth and nail ever since. In spite of all the fighting Obama is getting things done and making the GOP look bad in the process, a la Bill Clinton. If he gets healthcare reform through then he's driven a stake through the heart of one of the biggest demons of our time, and those who profit from a rigged health care system know it.

Reminds me of a group I worked with in the past. they wouldn't stop selling a product because they didn't want to give up the revenue. Never mind the cost to produce said item was more than they were able to sell it for, and customers didn't want it. Never mind the replacement would dramatically lower costs and meet customers demands for online products instead of old-fashioned hard copies. All the sales team could see was "b-b-b-but my commission".

Well, if that's the case this is great news for the GOP. Finally, they've developed a plan that both establishment Republicans and tea party members can agree on that has a real chance of succeeding. It's nice to see them coming together to make some progress; any kind of progress.

Pretty sure you are being sarcastic, but just in case...

Walmart is "mooching" off the federal government. The federal government is subsidizing Walmart. Walmart pays as little as they are required and in return, the federal government is kicking in the remainder that allows those employees to have food, healthcare, and a roof over their head.

Sadly, I have to agree. So many of those who will not be receiving Medicaid because of their Republican state legislature/governor, already vote against their own economic interests because of insert wedge issue here.

If there is any hope, they will finally realized they've been scammed, but if they haven't already, I don't know if they ever will.

$3.7B in profit last quarter.

They have about 500k employees that are underpaid. Let's assume they are all minimum wage. That's $15K a year. If they gave 500K people a 10K a year raise, their total profits last quarter would've been lower by $1.25B (10K divided over 4 quarters = 2.5K * 500K). A lot, but they still brought in $2,5B.
