Meanwhile in Eve Online, doing such a thing is considered "Corporate Espionage" and is 100% allowed by CCP and the Game Masters.

Seriously, if you give your password to someone, or make a weak password and you get hacked, the GM's say "tough shiat."

Tried EO, steep learning curve. Didn't play past the trial.

They have a better tutorial now, which helps somewhat. Part of its appeal is how complicated and unforgiving it is, though.

On a related note, anyone playing recently who can tell me how the last patch affected 0.0?

Played Eve for about 6 months after the trial, spent most of my time grinding enough ISK to buy the next months time card.  Finally just decided it wasn't worth my time.  Though if I could afford the hardware and space necessary to run a bootleg server (if such exists) I'd do that.  It's entirely possible to play Eve for free if you have the time to invest in mining and playing the market.  Or it was anyway.  I don't know if you can still buy time via ISK any more because I haven't looked back since I quit.

Join a 0.0 alliance and show up for fleet fights once a week or whatever, and you can spent the rest of your time making much better isk in those areas with zero risk. 0.0 is supposed to be the most dangerous area, but with local you can just warp to safety whenever a stranger appears. How screwed up 0.0 is, and the prevailing bullshiat about it, is why i stopped playing. Last patch some things were supposed to have shaken it up, but i've heard that before.

About five years ago I sold my party hat set on Runescape for 1.5 billion Runescape coins, then sold those coins to a website for $3,500.  I'm posting from the mega-computer I built from that money that is still in pretty good shape.

If you give your password to someone, "tough shiat" is the appropriate response.  Seriously.

I played that way back in 7th grade. It looked a lot worse back then. But, it was my introduction to MMOs and I never had to spend a dime on it before I got tired of the mechanics and did something else.
