What is it with people like OJ, Zimmerman, and this guy who somehow manage to get themselves out of some rather crappy predicaments only to be party to some new ones?
You would think once you got away with something you would stay on the straight and narrow instead of tempting fate yet again.

You addressed a direct cause--I was going to simply say "no impulse control."

I wonder if the same personality features that would lead someone to venture out alone into the wilderness-- without telling anyone where he was going--is in any way related to also being someone who would hit someone he supposedly loved?

Yes. The entire movie is brilliant but the last 15 minutes or so in particular are absolutely amazing. I rarely get emotional at movies but the ending of 127 Hours just floors me. .

Nancy probably wants him convicted for what he did to that poor defenseless arm.

John Buck 41: The book was great. Is the movie likewise?

Yea, the movie is good. A little loopy at points but it's sorta a given that you'd go a little insane in that situation.

The lesson I learned was always tell people where you're going and always carry a high quality knife if you're going to carry a knife.

I was out in the Maze District at the same time, going to a different archaic panel site known as "The Harvest Scene", when we heard about it from a Ranger out there, After a brutal but incredible hike into the Maze, over to the Harvest Scene, up to the Chocolate Drops, down the spine of the Maze to the Land of Standing Rock and "the Wall", we made our way back to Standing Rock and camp at Chimney Rock  We spent the evening drinking beer and grilling and saying that our day and trip to the Maze was way, way better than Arons!  I've been there several times, it is one of the most amazing places in the world!

The dude would do solo midnight assaults on 14ers in winter,

Do you tell someone when you go down the street to the park?
