And yet, Oklahoma doesn't even have an informal 54x11 tag graphic....

Awesome !

When will Christians learn that when they try and mix religion and government they can't just have Christian friendly stuff, they have to allow everything, including *gasp* other religions?

I'm sure the Regan MacNeil animatronic show will be a big hit

But Christians don't have a religion, they have a personal relationship with jesus, one where jesus is deep inside them.

Denies that accusation.

Oh, so then I suppose all those Churches won't mind paying their income taxes, since they don't qualify for a religious exemption, not being a religion and all?

Not if they have their way they don't.

This amuses me greatly.

Relatively Obscure: Not if they have their way they don't.

But they never have their way and then up saying things like '"Unfortunately [the religious school voucher program] will not be limited to the Founders' religion... We need to insure [sic] that it does not open the door to fund radical Islam schools. There are a thousand Muslim schools that have sprung up recently. I do not support using public funds for teaching Islam anywhere here in Louisiana," Hodges was quoted as saying in the Livingston Parish News.'

Greaves said one potential design involves a pentagram, a satanic symbol, while another is meant to be an interactive display for children. He said he expects the monument, if approved by Oklahoma officials, would cost about $20,000.

Where do I send the check?

So, how big is this statue of the Koch Brothers going to be?

Yeah, it's pretty much performance art.  Anton LeVay would have been the first to admit it was totally phony.

But this is just brilliant.

I'm personally glad that it won't be limited to the Founders' religion. I don't want no shape shifters teaching my children. What's next? J'em Hadar soldiers?

The legislature obviously haven't thought their brilliant plan all the way through.  This is going to be great to follow in the news over the next few years.

Missing the point of the Dominion Theology crowd.  They want to legislate their flavor of ignorant, unreasoned, but faithful Christianity into being the core of the government.  They are absolute, non-negotiable theocrats.  They will fight until they can get the government to outlaw any religious display but their own.

Okay, now *this* is funny.

For some reason the fact that the Satanists want to spend twice as much on their monument as the 10 Commandment monument guys did and put it right beside it is especially lulzy to me.

I'll be damned if I'm going to have my hard-earned tax dollars going toward F/RC Ketracel-White Lunch Program at J-em Hadar schools!

If I had more energy, I'd set up a Kickstarter to fund the construction and placement of a suitable monument to the Flying Spaghetti Monster on the grounds of the Oklahoma capitol. I guarantee you could get $100K of funding, if not more.  That would make a pretty kickass monument...

Alternatively, if I have a personal relationship with Marisa Tomei, one where Marisa Tomei is deep inside me (don't judge), then can I get a religious exemption?

"I think these Satanists are a different group," Cleveland said. "You put them under the nut category."

Ironically Republican ideology has more in common with these guys than Biblical Christianity.

I thought he was Muslim.

Hell, now that I think about it, I'd make a matching Kickstarter to place a Jedi monument there, too.

And for the Browncoats, one with Shepherd Book on it.

FTFA: "But the New York-based Satanic Temple saw an opportunity. It notified the state's Capitol Preservation Commission that it wants to donate a monument and plans to submit one of several possible designs this month, said Lucien Greaves, a spokesman for the temple."

Derp on, yo.

If they're going to allow graven images of one kind, its hard to make the case for prohibiting others.

The following are the Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth, as put together by LeVay. Now, I'm not a satanist, but looking at these, I suspect they make good neighbors and friends.

Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
When in another's lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
Do not harm little children.
Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.

Have all the displays you want, Satanists. You're cool, keep being cool.

Yes.

Reason by any remote analogy is cause to abandon all common sense.

It's a morally bankrupt logic that we see way too often and need to stop.

Right. Their beliefs are completely irrational. I bet they don't even believe that there were talking snakes in the Garden of Eden.
