(Vulture)   Brett Ratner signs on to direct Beverly Hills Cop 4, which he did initially back in 2008. Apparently, the offers to direct Marvel Comics films aren't pouring in like they used to   (vulture.com) divider line 6

Mugato: stoli n coke: and decided to ruin the Superman movies by having Supes portrayed as a vanilla boy scout which audiences claimed they didn't want until Man of Steel came out.

I thought he was a creepy stalker in Superman Returns and a murderous psycho in Man of Steel.

Considering the only person he actually killed on screen was Zod, that's a bit of a leap. Although, I'm sure there were casualties in the final fight scene destructothon, which could have been cut by a good 5 minutes. I chalk that up to his relative inexperience as a superhero.

Personally, I found it interesting that they finally portrayed Superman grappling with a very unique problem: He could effortlessly kill anyone he wants, and comes from a race that views human beings no higher than cockroaches, but the only person he willfully kills is one of the last of his own kind, someone bred for war that on multiple occasions stated that death was the only thing that would stop him.

I know the fanboy chant of "SUPES DOESN'T KILL," but during Man of Steel, Kal-el was still learning how to be Superman.

Exactly, after watching the movie I thought that was the best way to establish that he doesn't kill. Granted I only thought the movie was ok, but still I had no problem with that aspect. I still say all the pieces of a fantastic movie were there and they had the right idea of how to make it good, but they just didn't quite pull it off. It was almost like I was watching a rough cut of a film.

Klippoklondike: stoli n coke: Wait, there must be a problem with subby's math. Because if Brett Ratner is going to direct Beverly Hills Cop 4, which would have to mean that someone already made a Beverly Hills Cop 3. And we all know that never happened.

Never. Happened. It was just part of my nightmare where I imagined there was also a Major League 3, a Rocky V, and a Caddyshack II.

Thank the FSM it was all just a bad dream.

Other movies that never happened: Matrix 2, Matrix 3, Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Star Trek 2 by J.J. Abrams, Superman: Man of Steel, Wolverine

I can only agree with half of that list. Sorry, but Star Trek 2 was pretty damn good.

Mugato: When was the last time Eddie Murphy was funny? The Nutty Professor when he was doing the minstrel black guy in drag thing? I heard Bowfinger was funny, I admittedly didn't see that.

Bowfinger IS funny, though IIRC Murphy himself was only a small part of what made it funny. He wasn't bad, just not the center of funny. You should check it out, but its very much a quirky kind of funny.
