You have to wonder with modern ultralight materials and engine power, if you could actually make a working aircraft that looks like this and carries people.

Fly, yes; be controllable during said flight, not so much.

Maybe some of the Da Vinci Copter-thingies?

Yeah, I probably overstated the case when I said that "pretty much any of these" would fly. Some will not, but a number have large surface-to-weight ratios and are pendulum models, so if made very light, odds are they could fly reasonably well as indoor models. Thinking rc model airplanes here...not giant scale or human scale, of course. :)
