Better, the whole of the first episode, and it looks like the whole series is there

I usually hate io9 as much as the next guy, but on this particular page, they had several of the videos embedded, so you don't have to scour YouTube for them. For those who didn't click, they are animations of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy done using the audio from the original radio plays. IMHO, they are quite well done.

Here, let me help you out a bit:
Marvin vs. the Frogstar Tank
Arthur vs. the Nutrimatic Drinks Dispenser
The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything
The Whale and the Bowl of Petunias
Arthur Dent and Lintilla

sure haven't: Why do people need animations done? There was a whole movie made about the books, and it was quite good (not trolling).

Well, I think the movie was a reasonably okay incarnation of the Guide (though they just had to Americanize it and throw in stupid romance plots). It had its moments, even some original ones (like the face slapping things on Vogsphere), that were definitely in the right spirit and quite funny. But, it really doesn't hold a candle to the brilliance of the original radio series (or even the books, which are also excellent). IMNSHO.

HotWingAgenda: Well, the movie farked up Zaphod.

I'll kind of disagree. The movie did change him, but he'd already rather changed quite a bit between the radio series and the books. Changing him again for the movie wasn't a big deal, nor was it a fark-up, in my opinion. Different is not necessarily bad, and Zaphod in the movie was funny, as was Mos Def as Ford Prefect. Different, but it worked.

Remember, if there is one thing that has been constant for every incarnation of the guide (radio series, BBC TV series, InfoCom game, books, and movie), it is that every one has been different. ;)

IO9 is a Gawker site. I don't really need to pay them any attention. I can just as easily read reddit and Tumblr on my own.
