Lol nothing is sacred, just like on Family Guy and South Park. Isn't it edgy and fresh?

Oh you kamikaze

This is offensive? Jeesh. I'm only offended by the historical inaccuracy. Kamikazes didn't appear until years later.

Yeah, intentionally so in this case, but their customers are a bunch of drunks.

I'll see you in hell.

I still don't get the outrage over the spaghetti-os thing.

2013-12-07 11:10:14 PM
People nowadays actively look for shiat to get outraged about.

Depends what you mean by "Kamikaze" - the WWII pilots were named in honor of two 13th century typhoons.

And since Kublai Khan was the grandson of Doombreed himself, well... yeah, no pity here.

My dad died on December 7th, and Pearl Harbor happened when he was 11 years old. So basically Pearl Harbor is the least important reason that December 7th will live in infamy.

So he died, like... today?

2013-12-07 11:14:19 PM
It's not offensive, but it's not very funny either. Would have been better if it said something like "If you're Japanese, celebrate today with a saki bomb! If you're not, drown your sorrows with a dead sailor!"

Yes. I don't get the outrage over the Spaghetti'O's one. Other than maybe they used some incorrect wording, I saw nothing wrong with it. They meant well. This place...not so much.

2013-12-08 12:15:17 AM
What do you expect? It's WRIGLEYVILLE. In all my years, I've watched the surrounding area turn from a working class kinda rundown but family friendly Puerto Rican neighborhood with a small population of Japanese Nisei that happened to have a ballpark in the middle of it to the lily-white douchebag capital of the Midwest surpassing even Rush Street and its Viagra Triangle.
I used to be sentimental about the place - ivy n' all, grew up watching them on the teevee, but now I say please move to Rosemont and take every pukestained & retarded backwards-wearing-ballcap bro-boy and woo-girl with you. And the sooner the better. Tear it down, sell the land to the city, and let the park district put in softball diamonds. Hell, most of the summer league teams can beat the Cubs anyway. And then we won't have to pay attention to classless clip joints like Murphy's, no matter how stupid they advertise themselves to be.

/btw, adults don't EVER drink any kind of "bomb" or "kamikaze"

2013-12-08 12:15:26 AM
The only people still alive that could be outraged would probably spit and tell you to grow the fark up, nancy boy. They went on to win both DubyaDubya2 and the Cold War and don't have time to dwell on stupid shiat like this

Stop paying to see Micheal Bay movies if you're so P-O'd.

"Did you drop some bombs over Pearl Harbor?!"

This from a Filipino friend here in Honolulu, asking why I was taking so long in the bathroom one afternoon...

****
Another time, while my dad and I were getting a private tour aboard the USS Missouri from a friends who is Japanese, some fkg kid came up to my friend and said, "Your stupid people caused all of this to happen. Are you proud?" My dad, who proudly served 11 years in the Navy, said it took everything in him not to punch the kid hard in the face.

I would much rather have humor in a sad situation instead of anger and stupidity, but both are things we deal with often over here.  Aloha...

Yeah, good luck with that. You might as well try moving the Packers out of Lambeau while you're at it.

It must have been a long week for me, because I am searching deep down and just can't find any outrage for this.

Waiiit. An Irish Car bomb is a shot glass of 1/2 Jameson 1/2 Baileys, dropped into a lowball glass with Guinness. Damn Hoosiers.

So could someone please explain exactly what about this people are claiming to be so offended by?

2013-12-08 12:36:38 AM
FTFA: "Some guys thought it would be clever," Murphy told the Tribune. "Obviously we are ashamed. I'm so upet. We put up (a sign with) our sincerest apologies. My father was a veteran, and my uncles. This was just not us. Personally this is devastating to me. I apologize to everyone who was offended."

Devastating? Really? I can understand ashamed, but devastating? Save devastating for those catastrophic runs in your panty hose, lady.

VendorXeno: So could someone please explain exactly what about this people are claiming to be so offended by?

They are outraged because one of their dead relatives or someone they are lossly related to were veterans. You know, we veterans are delicate flowers and must be protected.

I come from a direct line of veterans, I am a veteran and know or have known veterans from WWII until the present day. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't get a giggle out of this or find it amusing. I think they would be much more offended by this reaction. I know I am.

2013-12-08 12:40:29 AM
Just good old BS. So far it looks like they are the only ones to remember it. Im really sick of this PC crap. Especially with the internet. One person biatches on Twitter and all of a sudden its news. I would love to go there and have a few of each. Then go on St Patrick's day and drink some Irish Car Bombs.

Petroleum Oligarch: It must have been a long week for me, because I am searching deep down and just can't find any outrage for this.

Yeah, I don't care either. I started thinking like... what if some bar had an sign "Celebrate D-Day with Hitler." Would I care? Nope. Celebrate 4th of July with a Redcoat? Nope.

Thus, I conclude celebrating a holiday that commemorates a tragic military event with a drink named after enemies related to that event is inherently not offensive.

Celebrate 9/11 with a Plane Bomb

Yeah, okay I just offended myself :p

Thats true. Most vets I know would think this is funny.

WWII veterens are way too grizzled to give a shiat about people's feelings.

I might be in the minority, but I think they should stop trying to "improve" Wrigley. Bleachers, stale beer, cold hot dogs, an organ... what else do you need? Leave the mallparks to the other guys.

It's like the AT&T 9/11 ad.  Remembering a national tragedy is one thing.  "Remembering" in the form of an advertisement for yourself...I wouldn't say I get outraged by it, but it's certainly tacky.

Surprised I miss this afternoon on the walk up to my class at the iO. Wrigleyville is the worst place I've ever been to. I love the winter because it limits the amount of douchebags roaming the streets. Come April it will turn back into Calcutta with bros.
