Life is unfair.

2013-12-07 07:54:46 PM
This is my hometown... my mom works at (and I graduated from) the high school she was at :-( Can't drive anywhere within damn near 100 miles without seeing businesses that have turned their building signs into #SarahStrong banners of support. Very sad.

2013-12-07 08:59:27 PM
But what about Paul Walker?

2013-12-07 09:07:53 PM

He made the choice that killed him...The young lady did not.

Thanks, Obama.

Normally I'd have something snarky to say, but to paraphrase Sentenced: lower the flags, for a good woman has passed.

Bummer.

Colon Cancer is one of the real baddies. I don't think it has a survival rate over 20%. It killed a friend of mines Mom about 20 years ago. She went from feeling a little tired all the time to being dead in three months. Scary fast.

RIP fair lady.

I sincerely can't wait for the time when we all think it's strange that cancer existed and that people could die of it. I honestly hope I'm alive for that day.

Good luck with that, I certainly won't be around to see it.

So very sorry to hear about your loss. fark cancer. It takes too many people, esp the young.

/wish i had words that would help, but ill pray for you, and the memory of the one you lost.

Do NOT worry about Paul Walker.

2013-12-07 09:35:53 PM
People all use the terms "fighting" and "battling" cancer. The heroic imagery seems.inappropriate in an active sense. Suffering with, succumbing to and dying from would be more correct.

That's probably how people felt about Polio at one time. ;)

Life's too short, people.  And now, back to the football game.  GO MSU!!!

My wife has cancer, because she is 30 they put her with a support group with ages from 16 to 32. There is currently 11 in her group, most are women with breast cancer.

A friend has stage 4 colon cancer.

He ignored the pain until it got that far.

He's fighting, 20+ chemo treatments later.

Echo what kling_klang_bed typed earlier: ... a good woman has passed. It fits too well that flags were lowered today anyhow; for her by bad luck, for others by design.
Have friends still fighting various cancers, one a young-but-not-as-young-as-Sarah-RIP lady for at least 13 years now --

A friend has stage four. A person who has literally saved others from death. She has kids. I'd trade places if I could.

All my best to your friends. I've seen relatives pass from cancer, and it's one of the cruelest diseases out there.

And this one goes out to her:

I can't imagine what she went through, or her family.

Cancer took my dad this year, though he went quickly and did get to experience a lot on life. He helped keep the SR-71 secret back in the day. (nothing fancy, just gruntwork, cool story for some other time) Go dad.

OK, off to go watch mst3k, what was I talking about? Fn dusty room, should clean it.

My boyfriend's got stage IV colorectal---the surgeon had to take his rectum.  As he says "now I'll be safe if I have to go to jail!"

And to the folks asking why it's "battling cancer" as opposed to just suffering from it...It's really the chemo that sucks the enormous donkey wang, and every round is like a seperate decision to keep going with it.

Have you seen the prices on Amazon? What, are they funding cancer research with that book?

I never realized how jaded Fark made me until I just read the headline and actually felt relieved that she had passed away instead of reading that it turned out to be a hoax or money grab.

Digital Copy    and yes, the prices are insane. But, its out of print so new books go up in price. I did track down used versions through that go for 40$.

It's too bad. At least now she is a better place without suffering and pain. Like all here, I wish it had ended differently though.
