This morning, the lower 48's average temperature (14.8F) was the coldest it's ever been this early in December since satellite records began. The coldest day since February 11, 2011, and the 5th coldest day since 2000. According to this guy

The challenge for the players is when the temp goes below -20C, because propane no longer changes to a gas at normal pressure, and sideline heaters quit working.

But it's still playable, you complete pussies.  I've seen lots of games played at temperatures that cold.  Dress appropriately, it's just part of the game.

And I'm missing it by being on vacation in Hawaii. Poor me.

/and Ryan Maue is pretty credible when it comes to current and future weather info. Not so much on GW or non-weather stuff.

I learned a little about a town called Jordan, Montana because the local news picked them to show how cold it is.

Population 364. They had a post office before they even decided to settle there.

I have a friend in Missoula I sent this link to. I also told him i'd send him a blanket if needed.

It's so hard to play in this weather, Coastal Carolina has only managed to score 42 points by the middle of the 3rd quarter...

Normandy wasn't a war, you complete pussies.  I read the Wikipedia article.

Combat sports aren't dangerous, you complete pussies.  I've played lots and lots of Street Fighter.

Drinking bleach isn't a bad thing, you complete pussies.  I've used it in my laundry machine.

Just think, if Coastal Carolina holds on and wins they get to go to North Dakota next week.  High temperature:  7 degrees.

I'd hate to be the guy that has to scrape up the frozen chew spit.

I would assume it's ND State, who plays indoors.

I have no clue what's going on in this thread, but the cold doesn't seem to have hampered Coastal Carolina any.

What a bunch of sissies!  They should move it outside just for next week.

Football should be played always in the cold.  I'm glad they are having the Superbowl in NY  NJ

I hope they freeze their tails off.  Poor babies, have to play football outside in the snow.

When the jet stream plunges down to around Houston, that'll happen.

It typically happens at least once a winter... it's just dumb luck it happened this early.

I somehow doubt the average temperature was 14 degrees though. That seems awfully low.

They don't know how anyone could do it, but they could still do it better than the f*cking Griz.

Guess EWU's the only damn Big Sky team capable of taking care of business in the playoffs. Way to be chumps, the rest of you.

/yeah, I didn't go to the game today because it's too damn cold
//no, I'm not going to sit outside in sub-zero wind chill temps for several hours while getting past...some type of sickness (not like I'm going to a doctor) just to watch football
///especially since I'm pretty sure that's part of how I got sick in the first place

No. 42-35 Coastal Carolina.

That fan is totally fine with the cold now, I bet.

Oh, forgot to mention: Coastal Carolina's next game, they'll be visiting North Dakota St. Luckily for all involved, North Dakota St. plays in a dome.

One Coastal Carolina fan took to Facebook to complain about the weather and let people know that the "NCAA could be legally responsible for frostbite. Or worse!!!" It's not surprising that a Coastal Carolina fan would want to play at a neutral site, but you have to wonder if this guy understands that people actually live in Missoula.

People live there? I thought it was just the location of our Strategic Frozen Food Reserve.
