Actually that would be Blurred Lines.

2013-12-07 12:56:04 PM
Blurred Lines isn't number 1 on the list.

There's a rape culture now?

What kind of clothes do they wear?

French robot heads, I guess.

I have no desire to hear most of those. I'll comment on one: "59 Miley Cyrus, Wrecking Ball." With less production I would have liked this.

Deslided list.

/Love that website

2013-12-07 03:22:01 PM
Did they just describe 'new' Arcade Fire and David Bowie?  oh no no no.
/i say 'new' because i don't much care for this album vs their older stuff.

2013-12-07 03:23:53 PM
Didn't see El-P or Killer Mike so the list sucks,it sucks anyways but even more without those two.

2013-12-07 03:33:07 PM
If it weren't for that damn song, we would have missed out on this masterpiece

That's what I expected.

"Rape culture"?

This nonsense of tagging violence as a "culture" and then linking pop culture to it as if it was some sort of engineered trend has got to stop. There isn't a "rape culture" where rapists sit around in groups discussing methods and styles of rape; and there isn't a culture that approves and condones rape and in which rape is the norm, as evidenced by the fact that a) we call it rape and b) its still a crime.

/rant off, but jeezus.

2013-12-07 03:37:01 PM
What the fark is their obsession with Miley Cyrus?  She was fairly high on the top albums list and we "We Can't Stop," which is beyond awful, is way up to #14 here.  Christ.  Even disregarding Miley, what a farking awful list.  Katy Perry's "Roar" being on there at all, much less the top 20, is a farking joke.  And Kanye must have biatched an awful lot to be on the list so much.

I have heard two of these songs. Justin Timberlake's Mirrors should be number one. The other song was YOLO, a bad Lonely Island song. The rest of the list, I imagine, can DIAF.

2013-12-07 03:41:31 PM
Bah.  Nobody will ever outdo Rod Stewart and Tonight's the Night.

2013-12-07 03:41:47 PM
I give Macklemore a pass because of Same Love.  It's a very enlightening thing to hear a song on the radio with positive messages about homosexuality, regardless of the genre or artist.  However, I concur, his music isn't generally to my taste.

Wait, since when did Rolling Stone have ANYTHING to do with music?

/Fark them to infinity

Any medium in which a man expresses a desire towards a woman, sexual or otherwise, is a constituent of 'rape culture'.

Liked about 10% of those songs which is more than I thought I would.

Back when *I* was in high school... and in 13 days, I turn 52 (gods, I'm getting old when I can remember owning copies of Rolling Stone that featured articles covering Led Zeppelin concerts with the *original* band lineup).

Seems like Fark headlines are getting more like Tumblr every day.

Get Lucky "celebrates rape culture" like Super Mario Bros. "objectifies women".

/fark you, Anita Sarkeesian.
//And no, that's not an invitation to rape.

Rape Culture?
The Mentors are back!?!?!

2013-12-07 04:21:07 PM
My pick would be A Forest Of Stars "Gatherer Of The Pure". Just my two cents (which is worth more than the corporate hipster rag that is Rolling Stone).

A Terrible Human: Didn't see El-P or Killer Mike so the list sucks,it sucks anyways but even more without those two.

Yeah...THIS.

2013-12-07 04:22:15 PM
I'm apparently just about the only person who thinks "Get Lucky" isn't very good.

There's a lot of Daft Punk that I like.  But I really don't see what sets this song apart from, well, anything else.

2013-12-07 04:24:05 PM
Kanye West was on that list at all?  How much did that fraud pays those other frauds for that?

I had to laugh at Lorde in #2 position, 'Royals' is a criticism of American music dominating the global music world.

2013-12-07 04:24:32 PM
Wow Black Skinhead is a terrible song. I don't even care about the lyrics. It just sounds horrible.

2013-12-07 04:27:09 PM
I've heard one of those songs, Pearl Jam's "Sirens".

Trolling Stone puts together really comprehensive lists of music I avoid.

Laobaojun: 'Royals' is a criticism of American music dominating the global music world.

You mean it celebrates domination culture?

2013-12-07 04:31:32 PM
You'd think Rolling Stone could afford a professional to design their web site.

2013-12-07 04:38:27 PM
Most are generic meh, I can't understand why they're hits other than a lot of deals going down with the crossroad demons this year.

Black Skinhead is funny.  Kanye is one of those singer comedians, like Weird Al, right?  I'm kind of out of touch.

Rape culture killed my dog, and I don't think it's fair.

Can someone explain Haim to me? I really don't get why so many critics are in love with them, someone is getting paid off

Pretty bad list

Bowie is on Reflektor doing some backing vocals and was involved in producing the track I think. Reflektor is much better than The Suburbs which was all around bland outside of a few tracks, never hitting the peaks of Neon Bible or Funeral.

If only there could be some middle ground between "no pervasive culture at all that condones rape" and "secret cabals of old white men conspiring on how to best rape women"

2013-12-07 05:06:35 PM
People who think Get Lucky celebrates rape culture == people who still think women hate sex.

(And apparently they get to greenlight articles.)

Rolling Stone is irrelevant. Who gives a fark what they think?

Thanks...

So... I recognition about 20-40% of the group/artist names on the list, and the only song on it I heard is the #1 song, and that is just because of the Colbert Report sketch...

I don't care what other Farkers think, I like Kanye's newest album and the songs on this list are great.

You could post YT links of damn near anything, and it could crack that list.  A mashup of What Does the Fox Say? and Friday could crack the top 50.
