It was the parking lot for an online store.  OF COURSE they are going to have shrubbery jpegs on their property.  I suppose you'll act all surprised by the shopping cart apps by the front door too.

Idiot.

Good work subby. You have found the fist time in all of the Internet that someone improperly embedded a photograph. Surely your sleuthing skills are being sharpened in the trenches of criminal investigation. Catching international jewel thieves, conspirators, parking violators, and assassins perhaps.

Rats are bigger than mice. I'm guessing they're meaner, too.

Question: Are rats teeth bigger than a cats teeth?

I hear cats can catch scorpions, but they're smaller.

Fleas the size of rats sucked on rats the size of cats
And ten thousand peoploids split into small tribes

Coveting the highest of the sterile skyscrapers
Like packs of dogs assaulting the glass fronts of love-me avenue

Ripping and rewrapping mink and shiny silver fox, now legwarmers
Family badge of sapphire and cracked emerald, any day now

The year of the diamond dogs

If you're seriously struggling to pop your greenlight cherry, take the low hanging fruit. For example, everyone knows there's a weekly tipping thread - someone has to submit that. Threads about pitbulls will get everyone into a rage, and in this thread's case, everyone jumps on a typo in the headline. Also try sports threads that happen with regularity (like the weekly NFL thread).

But keep submitting, it's better than no one submitting.

This article is silly all around. Mice are small, weak and timid. They run away, the cat chases. Rats on the other hard are ferocious, strong in tooth and jaw, and aggressive. Most house sized cats are going to lose, unless you have something like a bobcat. If you want a good rat killing common house pet, get a terrier type dog. they even have a dog called the rat terrier.

This.

Rats are the reason Detroit doesn't have a huge stray cat problem.  Well, rats and homeless.

Agreed. I have no idea to what the article's author was referring, but it wasn't an actual rat. A single rat is a challenge for the average house cat, and rats typically don't travel or fight alone. I've seen what happens when several good-sized rats go after a good-sized house cat, and the result unfortunately ended in euthanasia, as the cat was too seriously injured to survive.

Right. Judging by the description in the article, it doesn't sound like a rat at all. It was more likely to be an opossum. They can live as far north as southern Canada.

A rat the size of a squirrel? Oh Lawsy ME!!1!1!1
Either this area has squirrels on steroids, or rats of unusual small size. Or the rats where I'M from are freaking HUGE, or the squirrels around here are kinda small.
I've seen rats in my area the size of my Jack Russel terrier.

This maybe is true for your average pampered or suburban neighborhood cat. Rats are very smart and tenacious creatures. Especially in a pack.

However, many moons ago I was an overnight watchman for the cardboard factory Key Container, in the hell-hole known as Pawtucket, RI . There were HUGE rats all around the joint but they never bothered me.

On my second night working there I saw the cat that ate them. It was like Mike Tyson in feline form. Muthafuker had to be 20 pounds and yoked. It slinked under the parking lot gate and into the darkness.
I would see this cat at least once week. Every now and then I'd hear a ruckus but never saw a fight and only found one half eaten rat in the 6 months I was there.

I also worked overnight for Roger Williams University in the early 90's. They had a massive feral cat problem then and those assholes owned the area near the dumpsters.

When we had to take trash down there, my buddy would drive his car as close as possible, with the bags on the hood. We would jump up out, toss the bags as best we could and jump back in. Didn't want no part of those cats. I'm sure every rodent of any size stayed the hell away from that place.
