A school district in a suburb of Dallas, Texas banning all references to Christmas? Seems legit. I bet they're banning football and full-size SUVs, too.

Frisco? Lolololololol

Those poor, poor oppressed wanna be upper class, suburban white Christians in Texas. Will they ever catch a break?

To be fair , they couldn't wear those colors to the Hanukkah party either.

2013-12-07 09:19:15 AM
Well, of course, you know it's true that a single parent acting without authority from the school or PTA is indicative of the entire system, and further proof that government shouldn't be involved in education at all.  Why, I think this outrage should convince any thinking person that the Department of Education should be eliminated, and only private schools should exist.

This would be a lot more convincing if the original letter had not been written under Rep. Fallon's office letterhead,

...or you'll just be able to sue for protection of your First Amendment rights? And make a fortune?

The key word in this bullshiat headline is 'alleged'. As in, 'Fox News alleges all kinds of crap on a daily basis, but none of it ever turns out to be real',

or maybe

'there is an 'alleged' War on Christmas that some fools think is real, but which is in fact just an annual exercise in using easily outraged people as machines for turning bullshiat into money'.

Ah yes, it's that wonderful time of year when we celibate Holiday. When we string up Holiday lights and gather around the Holiday tree. When we rush to buy Holiday presents at overinflated prices. When kids get excited about the Holiday bunny coming down the chimney to deliver toys. When we carve Holiday pumpkins and hang Holiday wreaths. When the office has a Holiday party that ends with police and arson charges. Where all of our TV characters learn the true meaning of Holiday: The pilgrims writing the Torah on the Fourth of July.

Frisco is an affluent city in Collin and Denton counties in Texas and a rapidly growing suburb of Dallas, approximately 25 minutes from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field Airport.
Wikipedia

I think I see your problem. Rich white people problem.

We don't have this problem here on the fringes of downtown Ottawa.

Half the elementary school is Indian, Somali, or Latin,  and the other half is Chinese, Korean or Jewish.

They're so cute. It's like a "Small World" ride without the scary animatronics and creepy repetitious music that goes on and on long after you are seeing visions of the Return of the Elder Gods.

Rich white people are not one of the larger minorities but the Christians are well-represented among the Chinese and Koreans. But most of them are Roman Catholics or Baptists.

When I walk to work in the morning I see their Mothers, Grandmothers and sometimes Fathers walking them to work. The Mothers and Grandmothers wear traditional dress (head scarves for the Muslims, whether West Asian or African) while the little children wear traditional dress for little Canadians--brightly covered winter coats and pants--clothes that might get you beaten to death back in the Old Country.

Thank God I don't have any children. I'd have to get up a whole hour earlier. Killer.

Having done a lot of business in the Frisco area crap like this doesn't surprise me. That entire area, Frisco, The Colony, Richardson, Plano...all one big farking HOA and so bloody sanitized. They have grass Nazis who measure your lawn.

But damn you can find a decent steak in that area.

Nowadays the Christmas Pageant has been incorporated into the history and geography cirriculum that teaches children about what used to be here before the cellphone, the web and the wheel.

2013-12-07 12:38:40 PM
Ugh...not this shiat again.  Listen folks.  Christmas is a made up holiday by the Catholic church as a veneer over the solstice/end of year pagan celebrations.   It really has no bearing (nor should it have any bearing) on the celebration of Jesus' birth, if you believe that sort of thing.  You want to celebrate the Christ-child, go for it.  Balls to the wall.  Put up crosses, nativity scenes, etc, but don't expect the world to revolve around your religious choices. Go home and eat an extra helping of ham during your celebration of a Jewish child, without any hint of irony.

//But not THAT kind of Christian.

Ultimately, there is likely one group behind the "political correction" of Christmas. Strangely enough, they make a lot of money off of Christmas shopping, so you'd think they'd stop in this mean-spirited bullshiat given how much they love that ca$h.

Our local Texas school is having its "Christmas party" (quoted from the invitation) in a church. It's the same every year. They have a prayer before the meal, which is about as Jesus'y as they get. Sometimes an exchange student will also request a prayer or silent moment, usually in observance of the meal rather than 'another religion's holiday.'

I know two of the exchange students this year... one is Evangelical Lutheran and one was raised Taoist but claims to be Jidujiao now, which I guess is form of Chinese Christianity. They both attend a Baptist church while in the states.

Christmas, as it's celebrated by the masses now, is not remotely a Christian celebration.
Just relax the political correctness, and stop getting panties in a wad.

Happy Hanukkah.

Apparently a PTA member, without approval, sent out rules regarding what they referred to as a "winter party."
...
It seems like it's uncertain what exactly is going on.  KDFW got a response from the school district, which read, "The school was unaware of this and it was not an official PTA correspondence either. There have never been any limitations on what students wear, what they bring to share with their classmates on party days... what greetings people exchange with each other." This contradicts the email Fallon's source sent him.

It is not at all uncertain what is going on.  It's a troll, of course, and not even a 1/10 troll.  I predict the author of the e-mails is a hyper-religious parent who is upset that his/her perfect snowflake might have to show even a modicum of respect to others who aren't proselytizing from the exact same playbook.  It's nothing more than an anonymous letter to the editor that both the district and PTA disavow.

The story should have ended there, but the author got an easy bite from Fox and the Republican rep.

Some butthurt Republican who co-sponsored a "Help, we Christians are being repressed!" bill gets a forwarded email from an "apparent" PTA member which both the school and the PTA say they know nothing about? Yeah, this story has 'bullshiat' written all over it.
