(Huffington Post)   If you're a crooked banker, don't worry. You won't go to jail. Unless you messed with the bank's money. Then, oh yeah, you're going to jail   (huffingtonpost.com) divider line 11

Whoa, 9 months in what will probably be a federal country club prison. If it was a teller that lifted some cash from the drawer, they'd probably be looking at a lot more than that.

Big difference between stealing FOR the bank and stealing FROM the bank.

and pay $118 million in restitution to his former employer

Some States in the confederacy will make sure you stay in prison until that debt is paid.

/Or he could just write them a check to cover it.
//Meanwhile stealing .05 cents of power from public school for your battery powered car will also get you sent to jail and far harsher penalties than this scumbag who should of gotten 25 years as a minimum for grand-theft.

maybe I am naive, but WHOSE money did the alleged fark with?  From my cursory understanding of banks from Mary Poppins, the "bank's money" is really my money (coupled with your money).

life in america, subby. rob a gas station, beauty parlor - you name it. hours will be dedicated to the case. rob a Bank, Federal Agents will hunt you down for the rest of your life. the difference between 'them' and 'us' is so huge Evel Knievel couldn't jump that gap.

There was a recent case in Georgia where a man was arrested and couldn't afford bail. So he stayed in jail until his court date. He was found not guilty but the sheriff wouldn't let him out of jail until he paid room and board for his time in jail. He didn't have any financial resources or family to help him out. So he stayed in what was basically debtors prison for a debt he had no choice in creating. It wasn't until the Southern Center for Human Rights found out and got him help that he was released.

No. It's the Willie Sutton rule.
