It's Jezebel, so they haven't even entertained the thought that the woman may have lied about the whole thing.  Therefore, any good feelings you may have about the charges being dropped means you're a rapist.

I really wish Jezebel would dial it back a couple of notches; much like Consumerist, I don't doubt their core intentions are noble, but they lose sight of the forest for the trees.

Did you see that state prosecutor laugh during the press conference?  THAT PROVES IT.  IT'S DEFINITELY A COVERUP!

They said rape a lot in that article.

I've been with girls crazy enough to say, "If I ever catch you cheating on me, I'm going to say your raped me and your whole career will be over!!!!!"

I'm actually kind of surprised it doesn't happen more often. Some crazy hoes out there.

Jezebel is such a bullshiat blog and for blogs thats saying a lot.

Others made a big deal about it before charges were dropped so now they have to mention its over so it would be strange if they didnt mention it.

Is there any evidence that she lied about the whole thing?

I did find it interesting that in the press conference when the State Attorney was asked if the girl was credible he didn't say yes. Instead he gave some long word salad response about her having major holes in her recollection of the night.

Classy or unclassy performance by the prosecutor (and seemingly a whole bunch of people in the room), it isn't proof that Winston should have been charged.

There are like 4 witnesses who said she was all over them the entire night and she's quoted by her friends as a known player chaser.

There are other articles that provide proof so maybe one of the FSU people will post them.

They seem to have a bad case of the Floriduh, really.  Rape and/or false accusations of rape aren't really laughing matters, except on places like Fark.

It does make me wonder of the guy will countersue for slander/defamation of character.  If I was falsely accused, I'd be out for blood.

/operating on info about this only from news crawlers on the bottom of ESPN and Fark headlines, and this video of the press conference.  Maybe he's a rapist, maybe she's psycho biatch....but who can tell, it's Tallahasee.

When his lawyer spoke at the press conference he said that they were looking into the possibility of a civil suit against somebody, he wouldn't specify who.

This should keep Florida in popcorn for months, and may even affect the NFL draft.

Nice.

I thought he was a junior, and so he might try to break out for the NFL.  A quick trip through the googles shows he's a freshman.

...people in this thread realize that "dropping charges" doesn't mean "false accusation," right?  At least, not in every case?

And why the fark would Winston want to counter-sue?  He could A) put this behind him, have a great career, make tons of money, and bang everything in sight, or B) keep this issue on everyone's mind.

Hi Folks. Remember that just because there is insufficient evidence does not mean a rape didn't happen. People who commit crimes do not get charged all the time because of insufficient evidence.

The telling thing about this whole case was when in the press conference when the SA was asked if she was credible he did not say yes. Instead he danced around the question and said that she had major problems with her memory of the night and had major inconsistencies in here story. He then went on to say that she did not have any drugs in her system and the amount of alcohol in her system wasn't consistent with what would cause memory loss. Basically he was saying she was lying without directly saying it.

A lot of this, really.  Although for a lot of sh*t I just flat can't stand them, on this, there's been an awful lot of "b-b-but Heisman!  NCG!" and not much thought for the girl/woman in the case, other than "yay!  f*ck that b*tch!".  She may be some skank-assed gold-digging slut, but then again, maybe not.  I love CFB as much as the next guy (Currently BGSU 31, N.Ill 20, end 3rd, Lynch playing like sh*t, Go 'Canes), but we could dial it back ourselves.

Major trauma leads to false/poor memories.

Lying leads to false/poor memories, too.  Just, the SA's response isn't conclusive.

Yeah but the SA didn't say that. The SA did everything he could to not say she was lying. Watch the press conference, you will see what I mean.

No.  "Does not mean a rape did or did not happen" makes no sense.

The smart thing to do would be to let it go.

I on the other hand would get on my high horse and sue the Fark out of her. It is something that will follow him to the draft, and if he becomes a "tweener" at any stage, this could cost him a few spot and/or rounds and a ton of money.

I would not sue her for cash so much as a public apology.

No shiat; and the sky is blue? Some times criminals get off the hook, and some times innocents are sentenced a guilty verdict. That`s the nature of the beast of criminal justice. What is bullshiat is that there are people who would still suspect him of being guilty anyways despite going through the system and getting his name cleared. This isnt OJ we are talking about.

Except there was no rape involved, she got drunk and decided to have a one nighter and regretted it. Will find out whether this is the case in a few weeks when she gets charged for it or not, if not then something fishy is going on.
