Confabulat: I am none of those types, because I play video games alone and offline and don't give a damn if it's a PS2 game or not.

Same here. Occasionally I'll race someone in Forza, but it's usually without a headset. I like the feature in Forza 4 that lets you race people's ghosts.

soporific: And I think it's less about the game quality and more about the fact that we played these games in our formative years. Games for me is like music for other people. For many, the music of their teens was perfect and nothing can top it; for me, the games I played in my teens and early 20's are untouchable by modern games.

I used to love Pitfall on the Atari 2600. I played it recently, and realized that it really sucks. As for music, I recently went through and listened to all the bands I liked as a teenager and realized that, while some of it I still like a lot, many of my favorite bands of the day bands are just a bunch of pretentious douchebags who dress in black, sing about death and depression, and take themselves way too seriously (I'm looking at you, Christian Death).

Richard C Stanford: Hehe. I just remembered some video of someone playing call of duty with the only other person in the game with them being a five year old with the voice of a chipmunk. "Nooooo, you guys stoooop it". "I said don't shooooot meeeeee!" "Noooooo, your a big poopy head!" "I'm going to call my dad, and if you don't stop shooting me he's going to call the police." "Whaaahhh, daddy!"
Seriously, why the hell was a little kid playing an M rated game? Were his parents just too lazy to care?

Lazy and/or stupid and/or neglectful.

kroonermanblack: Summer Glau's Love Slave: List fails for omitting gamers still butthurt about the ending of Mass Effect 3.

/Yeah, it blew goats, but get over it already.

I finally did actually.

I mean, I still won't go back and play any of them, and they were my favorite games (only ones I've ever played through multiple times, except for Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale).

But I'm no longer 'boycotting all EA products'. Mostly because I forgot or didn't realize Deadspace2 was one when I bought it a few weeks ago. And then my friends talked me into playing SWTOR again (which, honestly, hasn't changed enough for me to recommend)

I'm not boycotting EA products, but I'm dayum sure not going to buy any of them until they've been heavily reviewed and in play for a while. Just trying to avoid another dissapointment.

/ME3 has something like 1200+ reviews on Amazon, and 599 of the reviews are 1 star.
//Never play a game until it's been out for a while.
////Batman Arkham Origins is so glitch ridden you can't even play it.
////The patches that WB Montreal released for it are useless.

ME3 reviews are a tainted pool. The ending was (and still is) shiat. Originally people flipped out and just crapped on EA anywhere they could. And no one ever went back and changed those.  If you can get it cheap, ME3 isn't a terrible game.

I kinda agree on Batman AO though. Tried playing that on PC with a control and it was terribad.  But that's not strictly an EA thing. The Dues Ex: Human Revolution: Directors cut edition that came out a couple months ago is flat out farking unplayable. Framerates and stutters and lag for almost every user, no patches. Some bizarre workarounds.

Frankly I'm just going to start waiting on games. Probably not long enough for the GOTY editions, but maybe a few months. Which sucks, because I like gaming.

Speaking of, I'm bored, anyone know of any RPG style games for PC? Something like Baldur's gate or similar, but new (and no, BG:EE doesn't count, nor does GoG's catalog!) I even enjoy a good action RPG, but the qualifications there are that it has to have leveling, and gear progression (as in, you get at least a few new weapons and armor as the game progresses, rather than God of War style 'here's an ax, here's a Z, here's a Y')

I tried out Alpha Protocol over the summer and loved it.  Great spy-themed action-rpg.  The Fable series is pretty good, too (I only played the first one, though).

Ghastly: Skyfrog: I decided to get a classic console and build a collection, I've lost interest in most new games. It was going to be an SNES but finding a good one became problematic, most of them have turned piss yellow and the plastic so brittle you can shatter it in your hands. The SNES mini seems to hold up much better but then I found a pristine Atari 2600 light sixer. That was the console I had as a kid (and later a ColecoVision) and the carts for it are dirt cheap. Plus I've found I have a lot more fun playing those old games so I'm building a 2600 collection now. I guess that puts me in the "games were better back then" crowd.

I still prefer SNES over all else though, but emulation is good enough for that. Might get a Raspberry Pi or Ouya someday, install a bunch of emulators on it and turn it into an ultimate classic gaming console.

Collecting Atari 2600 carts... oh man there's something that will drive you crazy.

I have an Atari 2600 collection that includes 13 different console variations and over 300 different cartridges.

Party at your place!

Carth: PC only gamers are by far the most annoying. They think missing out on exclusives because they spent $1000 on a PC but won't drop an additional $200 on a console makes them more hardcore or elite.

Look, if you can only afford one platform and picked PC that is fine but don't pretend it makes you better than other gamers. You're still being limited on what games you can pick by your platform of choice.

Only if you aren't willing to wait.

Wake me up when Halo 4 comes to PC, but before that, Halo 3 probably should as well as ODST and Reach.

/PC is just as limited in titles as are consoles, each has their exclusives in one way or another

Don't bother waiting for ODST. Crappy, crappy game. They took all the fun from the halo games and removed it
