Yea, it kinda sucks to fire a guy who had a stroke a month ago.

But when the reason you have a stroke is due to stress from your job being on the chopping block, this is probably the best thing to happen to him.

Seriously, this. TIAs are usually followed by big strokes. He needs to take it easy.

I wonder if he's mailed a box of dogsh*it to Matt Schaub yet.

Frankly, I'd rather him get canned and be able to focus on his health.

He made plenty of errors as coach, but hey, someone has to take the blame for Schaub's horrible play.

JerseyTim: How terrible do you have to be to be replaced by Wade Phillips?

Bum Phillips
Dan Reeves
Marv Levy
Dan Reeves (again)
Bill Parcells
Gary Kubiak

The list of "guys who got replaced by Wade" is actually really good. I know, I wouldn't have thought so, either.

2013-12-06 02:34:15 PM
I honestly thought he would finish the season. Then I watched the game last night. Bloody hell, they were a mess.

I have a strong feeling the new coach will be Darrell Bevel or Lovie Smith. Maybe Coughlin if the Giants get rid of him. It's all speculation at this point but at least McNair finally pulled the band-aid. With a top draft pick, a lot of talent already in the building and an easy schedule next year, a new coach will hardly be hard to find.

2013-12-06 03:07:19 PM
Lovie, like Rob Ryan, should not have been fired. I'd like to see Lovie come back.

2013-12-06 03:14:49 PM
I didn't watch last nights game, but I completely lost it when overhearing someone read their espn feed:

"Why is schaub in? Is case hurt? Ah interception...at their own 20"

Literally hurt my sides

Path to the Jaguars in the playoffs at 7-9:
Week 14:
N.E. over Cleveland
Oakland over Jets
Pittsburgh over Miami
Tampa over Buffalo
Minnesota over Baltimore
Denver over Tennessee
Week 15:
Denver over San Diego
Chicago over Cleveland
New England over Miami
Jacksonville over Buffalo
KC over Oakland
Carolina over Jets
Arizona over Tennessee
Bengals over Pittsburgh
Detroit over Baltimore
Week 16:
Buffalo over Miami
Cleveland over Jets
Jacksonville over Tennessee
Green Bay over Pittsburgh
San Diego over Oakland
New England over Baltimore
Week 17:
Jacksonville over Indy
Cincinnati over Baltimore
Houston over Tennessee
Jets over Miami
New England over Buffalo
Cleveland over Pittsburgh
Denver over Oakland

If Jacksonville wins their 3 left (which, other than Indy, would not be totally "shocking").... are any of those other results shocking?  Probably not, a bunch of them could go the other way, but, honestly, if Jacksonville keeps winning, and Baltimore & Miami don't get on a bit of a run... things are going to get interesting those last 2 weeks.

And there is even some wiggle room up there.... Tennessee can win 2 of those games... Oakland can win another game... Jets can win a game, Miami can win a game, Baltimore can win a game (that is probably the biggest threat against this... Baltimore not pulling off 2-2 down the stretch)... Jacksonville is still in.

Just seems amazing after they basically crapped the first half of the season.

My grandfather had 3 within a 48 hour period this summer.  Farking scary things.  But yeah, TIA's are warning shots for full blown strokes.  The main difference between a TIA and a stroke is that in a TIA the blockage doesn't last long enough to cause permanent damage.

Ah yes, Mr. "I was only joking when my dumb ass statement made national news" Antonio Smith. Its been so long since he's seen a coach do such voodoo as making adjustments and changing your game plan that of course he thought it was cheating.

One of the rare NFL firings that's completely justified. Seriously underachieved with that roster, even with Schaub dragging him down.

Idk if it makes a ton of sense with 3 games left but, I guess it doesn't really matter that much if the go oh-fer. In fact they probably want to do that and lock up the first pick and their choice of QB.

Keenum can play.

I'd rather see an offense try to handle the Clowney/ Watt combo.

Bunny Deville: Seriously, this. TIAs are usually followed by big strokes. He needs to take it easy.

Symptoms vary widely from person to person, depending on the area of the brain involved. The most frequent symptoms include temporary loss of vision (typically amaurosis fugax); difficulty speaking (aphasia); weakness on one side of the body (hemiparesis); and numbness or tingling (paresthesia), usually on one side of the body. Impairment of consciousness is very uncommon. There have been cases of temporary and partial paralysis affecting the face and tongue of the afflicted. The symptoms of a TIA are short-lived and usually last a few seconds to a few minutes and most symptoms disappear within 60 minutes. Some individuals may have a lingering feeling that something odd happened to the body. Dizziness, lack of coordination or poor balance are also symptoms related to TIA. Symptoms vary in severity.

I feel like I've had all the symptoms at some time in my life and I'm 45.  Seems kind of vague really.

I just did that playoff sim thing, and it's really a lot simpler than you make it out to be...it defaults to the NFL power rankings, and if those results play out, Jacksonville's already in.  Now, I know that it's next to impossible that the favorite will win literally every game between now and the end of the season, but it's still beyond weird that the Jags, theoretically, have a chance.

As I said, a bunch of wiggle room.... Pittsburgh i didn't mention, but, they can win up to 2 games and Jax still gets in, so, give them Cleveland.

And my weed?  Might be good, and I'm not saying that is a lot of "this must happens", but, they aren't 12 games of "4-9 team needs to beat a 10-2 team".... they are either very expected outcomes, or two mediocre teams playing each other, and the necessary outcome is a good chance.  I'm not betting $100 on it... although if someone gave me 20 to 1 odds for $5, I'd risk $5 for the chance at $100 that Jacksonville makes it..... I bet someone 4 weeks into the 1999 season that the Rams would win the SuperBowl for 5 to 1 odds on $20, that turned out good.
