As a card carrying Colombian Farc is just trying to negotiate it's way out of getting shot by a firing squad.

The Farc money trail is so embedded in the Colombian government that they will never be convicted of anything, because they have the dirt on everyone.

This is not the first time Colombia has decriminalized drugs.

The cartel drug money built the economy and those guys took a lot of that money and went legit.  You see it in booming cities like Pereira and Medellin.(also the hottest women in the country).

@farkbot42  The DEA could give two shiats about Colombias internal drug policy.

Farc could have been killed off long ago.

We know how to end the drug war.
We just can't find politicians who want to end the drug war.

They're asking the government to shoot their #1 cash cow, anti-drug money from the US. Good luck with that.

What would Dian Fossey think about this?

2013-12-06 12:35:48 PM
African grad student sitting in a coffee shop (or bar. Can't remember) was asked by a lady, who by chance happened to be blonde, "so what did you do before you came to America?"
"I was a guerrilla fighter."

She stares at him all wide-eyed.
Unable to contain her surprise any more, she blurts out:
"You used to fight gorillas?!!"

I'd prefer the opposite approach. Buy up the Afgan poppy crop to pump money into their economy. Endear them to us. Keep it from becoming black market heroin. Use it for legitimate medical purposes and tell big pharm to go 'f' themselves.

The main reason that reefer is illegal in the USA is that it is a cash cow for lawyers, and most of the politicians and all of the judges come from that profession. And they are the only ones who can legalize weed. This list does not address that reality, and thus is doomed to failure.

On one hand, I'm mad because you beat me to the reference.

On the other hand, I'm glad someone else recognizes Kurt Russell's great role and celebrates it like everyone should.

You only think that because his character is set against the most unlikable set of main characters ever assembled.

And there be comedy gold in there...

They had an auction or something a bunch of years ago to unload some of their old equipment and my Army buddy snatched up the bass, he is the one that took the pic of me.

There's a whole lotta "leave the drug growers / dealers alone" points in that list. Taxing the stuff strangely absent too.

See, your problem starts at The Bank.
Also ends at The Bank.

Any "tax" will be chump change out in the public view.
No way it replaces the current river of money.

Works as well for me since it can be used for so many legit purposes, and as you said it would make important to the street level Afghani.
