Back in the band days we'd always get top dollar for our unwanted instruments/amps when we'd list that it used to belong to _ _ _ _ rockstar / celebrity musician.

WTF is wrong with you? We aren't talking about some POS Squire craptastic strat, we are talking about an American made LEGEND from the best era, played by one of the big names.

/Proud owner of a 90's American Deluxe strat in perfect shape which plays and sounds awesome.
//Regularly goes for $1,600-$1,800, I paid $800 for it.

I'm assuming a Gibson guy. Love Gibsons but you gotta admit some of the best rock guitarists in the world play/played the Strat. Hendrix, Vaughn, Van Halen, Gilmore, etc, etc.

Gotta agree - I have a Clapton strat and it is very well made, sounds great, plays like a dream.
My Gibson Les Paul Custom Blackie is also very nice, but the strat rips!

Hey, I love a good Les Paul as much as the next guy, but I like my strat too. I plan to hang onto mine for a while and let her grow in value.

A
strat is the most versatile  guitar ever made. you can get Gibson tones on a Strat, but you can't get Strat tones out of a Les Paul. It's Bob Dylan's guitar...you sayin' he doesn't know good guitars?
