You ever see a light bulb just before it burns out.  It gets very bright for about a second.  That is what we are seeing now because of Obama's policies.  Either that or the Bush recovery has finally kicked.  We will now in in a few months.

I can hardly wait to get a Republican in the White House in 2017 so that he can slash taxes to the wealthy, let the energy/pharma/banking/agribusiness industries know that the federal regulators will all have their eyes closed, so go have fun, and kick off a long, hideous war with Iran, resulting in catastrophic collapses in finance, the economy, foreign affairs, the environment, and pretty much everything else.

It's going to be great.

His position is valid. The economic downturn occurred in 2008. Barack Obama was elected President of the United States of America in 2008. Denying his responsibility for the economic downturn of the year that he was elected President is a denial of history.

Can anyone think of another 2-term president who had 4 knock-down drag-out fights with Congress over the budget/debt?

Clinton had the government shut down twice in 2 years, but with nothing like sequester grundleplith, MD or a filibuster-happy Senate. Reagan had budget fights, but instead of abdicating to a Simpson-Bowles-type group, he and Tip O'Neil actually negotiated a compromise (involving raising some revenue, even). Hell, even Andrew Johnson had a united Congress after the Civil War - they united in hating him, but they actually passed shiat...

But from '06 to '10, Democrats had full control!

/Never mind that they only had an actual filibuster-proof majority for a few months, had to deal with Blue Dogs, and Republicans started their trend of breaking obstructionism records during that time.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not, but Lehman Brothers failing and kicking off this crisis happened in September while Obama was elected in November of that year (and didn't take office until January 2009).  Blaming Obama for something that happened before he was elected is pretty farking stupid.

When Obama was elected, the next day the DOW plunged over 500 points.  The free markets took a shiat knowing a communist-fascist dictator was taking over.  Lehman Brothers decided it wasn't worth it and closed up shop.

Obama is directly responsible for the recession.

The economy is improving? Even a cursory dive in to those numbers belies that notion...

If I'm not mistaken the jobless rate is "falling" because of seasonal employment plus one of the lowest labor participation rates on record. Plus any increases lately haven't even been enough to keep up with the replacement rate.

Housing prices are up because the unsold inventory is being cleared out... but home ownership is actually down because it's investment firms and other corporate entities buying up the inventory for rental.

Overall economic growth in the 4th quarter is being widely attributed to businesses increasing their inventories... but sales are down so those inventories aren't selling and we should see that exert downward pressure in Q1.

Note: I don't think this is Obama's fault... I think this is in at least large part due to the class warfare Republicans have been waging against the lower and middle classes since the late 70's. When, in a consumer oriented economy, your consumers are poorer every year it will weaken the economy. I think that's a big part of why our economy has been struggling to recover. Our pool of wealth is stagnating in the hands of a few rather than flowing through the rivers of our population, carving out new opportunities and creating new wealth in the normal cycle of creative destruction.
