I work with many UA fans.  They seem to hate AU for reasons they can't even put into words.  But since other people in their families do, they do as well.  The best part was when AU played Oregon for the national championship, UA fans work Duck shirts, but when UA played Notre Dame, the AU folks wore Irish shirts.  (Not that ND had a chance but still). ALL the Tide people complained, "but we are all the SEC!"

On a side note.  I'm just waiting for UA to lose to whoever they play in their bowl game.  That way the excuse of "since we couldn't play for the NC, we don't care" will run wild.

That is Alabama culture. I lived in B'ham after graduating from UF, and the first thing many people will ask you when they meet you is, "Alabama or Auburn?" When I said "Gators!" I was always met with suspicion and a sort of outsider fear. People who grow up in that state don't know any different though. Drive through Alabama the day of the Iron Bowl and see if you can find someone actually working.

When I was in sixth grade, Alabama was half a game behind Georgia for the spot in the Sugar Bowl (this was before splitting into divisions). Alabama needed Auburn to beat Georgia so the Tide would be able to win the conference. There were lots of Tide fans who refused to cheer for Auburn even though winning would help their team. Their hatred of Auburn was stronger than their love of Alabama. Once I realized that, everything else made so much more sense.

I feel sorry for those who actually attended Alabama and earned a degree. Every school has odd sidewalk fans but Alabama seems to have the oddest. Alumni as a whole are fine but wow, the sidewalk fans are from another planet. Hmmm... all this did really start getting crazy after NASA came to Huntsville. Maybe something escaped from a lab there.

Yeah that cartoon is not accurate, AU fans are obnoxious when they win, its why everyone hates them. Bama fans are just dense, even when they suck their fans cheer like they are great, its amazing to see.

There's a ridiculous amount of Alabama, auburn, and lsu fans and employees at WDW. It becomes the annual Super Bowl for the resort almost when bama and auburn play. People were eating at character dining places and watching it on their ipad this year. "Hey cinderellaGOD DAMMIT SABAN"

I have to say that both sides are obnoxious when they win. I say that as an UA graduate and half hearted fan. This is a contest in which neither side can claim the moral high ground.

Yes they do and for the most part UGA fans are nice, its just easy to tweak people here most of the time. Hell we invite all fans into our parties while tailgating, except florida fans because fark florida.

A lot of AU fans here aren't that bad and I give you credit because you come here even if they aren't that doing well.

I think its mainly from experiences in Atlanta who everyone can back up that they are huge dicks, I was getting texts from two of them before and during the UGA game smack talking when I didnt say shiat to them.

But I dont care who you root for normally as long as you can show a little enthusiasm without delving into gunfire or trying to fight the bar. Well except for florida, because fark those guys.

Alabama-Auburn is up there with Ohio State-Michigan.  But with OSU/Michigan you actually have fans who are educated, who usually have good, middle class jobs, are somewhat worldly, even if they hate each other.  Those are burned out, rust belt areas of the country and have seen better days, but the state of Alabama?  Has seen no days at all.

Yeah, have to agree.  Last time I dealt with Bama and Auburn grads was my favorite.  I was at a wedding in Atlanta (where else?).  Somehow I was dragged into the bachelor party.  They were all grads of one or the other.  More conspiracy theories than I'd ever care to hear -- about football, the Fed, Obama, everything.  Within an hour, I'm listening to some Auburn dipshiat tell me about how Ben Bernanke is Satan and trying to destroy the US (Because Islam, presumably), and I'm thinking, "Jesus fark, and this is the educated middle class of Alabama."

UF and UGA might as well be Harvard and Yale next to those people.  (I don't mean that as an insult to either -- they're both fine schools -- but just emphasizing the relative intelligence.)

Ohio State fans can be obnoxious, and Ohio is mostly a shiathole, but OSU grads not even in the same galaxy of derp as the Bama-Auburn crowd.  And Michigan fans always seem so beaten-down that I almost pity them.

Sorry you know damn good and well the auburn fans in and around Atlanta are the biggest douches around, even a couple friends who are GT fans say they hate them more than UGA fans. Thats not a troll, thats just a fact, bama fans are loud but just not as obnoxious, auburn fans are just douches that talk shiat when they're winning then claim to not be huge fans the years they suck. You can tell by the lack of auburn logos in the weekly threads until the past few weeks.

I'm hurt to be ignored.

What's funny is auburn fans never see the problem or say we are lying, they are over the top with the stickers. Well magnetic logos because those are easier to pull off when they are losing.

Whomever your fave school's 2 biggest rivals are generally 1 is your 2nd favorite that you like them unless they are playing you that week and the other is like your absolute least fave that you want to lose every game.

Since FL and AL dont play every year, up here in TN the Iron Bowl is the best time to tell the Bama 2nd fave camp from the Gators 2nd fave camp, because the FL Gators 2nd fave folks are gonna root for Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

I am personally in the Bama 2nd fave camp.

Damn, I knew NIU was a fraud, but I didn't know they were a lose-by-20-to-Bowling-Green kind of fraud.

Hopefully now we can stop pretending they're a serious team.

steamingpile: llortcM_yllort: Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: Alabama-Auburn is up there with Ohio State-Michigan.  But with OSU/Michigan you actually have fans who are educated, who usually have good, middle class jobs, are somewhat worldly, even if they hate each other.  Those are burned out, rust belt areas of the country and have seen better days, but the state of Alabama?  Has seen no days at all.

You've never been to Ohio, have you?

Or Michigan, I can tell there is not much difference between Alabama or Ohio/Mich area even though the people from that area disagree.

The snow.

Especially when you get to the UP in Michigan... Holy fark, that's a new level of snow. The ex-wife has family up there, and we went up for Christmas one year. I thought I was fairly decent at driving on the snow, those people up there are masters at it...
