Seems too close to Hanukkah to have nazis on TV.

If this is live, will they redo it all over again for the West Coast in 3 hours?

I honestly think things like this should be on TV every night. Aren't there Nazis at some point? I've never seen this movie

Not if the show is canceled after opening.

Is Drew going to pop up and explain the joke in the title?  I don't get it.

That would be an impressive turnaround.

Especially since it'll end on the east coast at 11pm EST/8PM PST.

It was the first question to pop in my mind when they first promoted this last month.

Having only seen the movie, it's kinda neat seeing the differences with the Broadway play version.

It does look like the opening scene doesn't have Maria and takes part on a separate stage.  I guess it's possible, but it would be a really impressive feat.

I quite like seeing "plays" back on tv and if this is being done live, even better.   I don't think Carrie has the vocal chops for the role. The role's singing requires someone with a opera background.

Charlotte Church would have been a good choice.

BUFFERING....BUFFERING..

WTF? Are they using Real Player?

I think so too. It just seems odd to put it in this time slot instead of one last week or one closer to Christmas.

This just seems like a random time to air it.

Yeah, she's trying her hardest but I've heard better. I think Charlotte Church would've been a good choice too but I have no idea what she's up to.

I'm less annoyed by her vocals than I am by the rather wooden delivery of many of her lines.

agreed.  i'll give her credit for doing a decent enough job and she has the innocent pretty face for the role.

Nice to see a young starlet not on the crash and burn road

except nobody is tuning in to see her speak her lines. Why did NBC feel they needed a big name in the role. This is a story that is beloved by its fans and this show would have been the perfect time to introduce a new actress

If this is successful, I expect there will be a follow-up production of Mary Poppins starting Jordan Sparks.

Wow.
I had no idea.
I read this thread and went and hooked up the tv in the other room to see for myself.
Wow.
See this right here is why we download stuff in the Squid house. My wife comes home from work and says 'what is there to watch?' and I open the downloads folder and say 'there's a new Walking Dead and American Horror Story and I downloaded season 3 of whatever'. If we watched regular TV she would flip through the channels, see this shiat festival and insist on watching it.
Hooray for the unexpected benefits of piracy!

apparently there may be a downside to picking a lead actress who can't act. made it about 15 minutes.
