That solves the problem of making their food appetizing.

The customer was beginning to wonder why she kept getting the munchies a half hour after she ate that Baconator.

Wendy's is delicious. Their spokesperson and ads are not good though.

That is ballsy as hell smoking a j on the job. Must have been a relaxed atmosphere at work but those Wendy's are that big how did it not stink the place up?

That all depends. She could do quite nicely growing her own in the garage or somewhere else. The burger job is the one you know about. At least that's how it gets done in these parts.

Ventilation fans above the grill. I used to work at a pizza "joint" that had a weed smoking policy. You had to be a smoker to work there. We would huddle below the fans and blaze up in our pre-work meetings... With the owner of the establishment.

Yeah but you weren't smoking while you were on the make line and FFS how do you drop a roach and not notice it? I've got no problem if you can do your job while you're stoned, it's actually a performance enchanter in a lot of cases, but get high on break not during the process.

I assume the scene was similar to an episode of Cops where the cop promises to be your best buddy if you give everything up and when you do he charges you with everything he can.

Yeah, it seems like politics is back to a battle of the slogans again. Don't look behind the curtain, just vote for whomever hits a chord. No matter what their character.

On Southside Chicago, this would make more money than any of the bars. I can think of at least 3 dozen friends who'd be all over that idea. Or spend the rest of their cash on Wendy's.

Out of all the non-food items to find in food, this is one of the least offenceive i've heard about. I wouldn't even call the cops, just demand new food, made as i watched. But then again, i worked pizza delivery, and i can promise you, if you don't tip, you've had worse.

It amazes me that smokers don't realize non smokers can still smell what you have been smoking.  If those exhaust fans worked that well, then how do the customers smell the pizza being cooked?  They don't, the ovens mostly only take away the heat and cooking gases, whereas the smell still travels through the kitchen.

I worked with a busboy who thought smoking a joint at the trash dumpster kept everyone from knowing he lit up at work.  We all knew he smoked out there, and not because we saw him.  We could still smell it.  We had other coworkers who smoked pot, however they did their partying at home.  Of course the boss knew as well, but as long as business kept moving along, you could wipe the knife off on the trash can between cutting fruit without him saying a thing.  We really had a cook do that.

I am not surprised by the smoking.... I have really surprised on the where. The small open design kitchen? The manager didn't know someone was smoking in the open kitchen where even the customers can see the people work?

No man, the FREEZER. Am I the only former teenager who got stoned at fast food jobs??? Everyone knows the FREEZER is the place to smoke. No smell; or much much less smell.

I haven't seen too many kitchens that were in plain view of the customers.  They tend to arrange the equipment to block the view.  A BK I had worked at for a short period had the fryers lined up so the customers only saw the sandwich chute, the fry station and a wall of stainless steal from the backs of the deep fryers.  Owners know they are hiring stoner idiots and really don't want you seeing that.

I've been to Wendy's in a number of states across the US. Every single one (other than a small venue like a mall or airport) had the exact same configuration of counter, and kitchen. You can watch them make the burger and fries. In fact, I go into the habit of waiting till a new order of fries were about to come out before ordering if not in a hurry. Otherwise, I would just order mine without salt so that they'd make a small batch just for me :) And than I would salt them myself. Same type of process for the burger during slow periods of the day. I order with extra pickle, so I always get a freshly cooked burger.

I assume that the the Wendy's building configuration as standard as it is across the US, would be the same in Canada.

Well, they aren't.  I have only been able to see the full kitchen crew at two locations of Halo Burger and places like Subway.  Every other place I have eaten or worked at had the crew mostly hidden.  When I was the slicer/sandwich guy at an Arby's, the customers could only see me when I was grabbing roast beef from the slicer.  The most exposed I ever was, was at a Little Caesar's, as the prep line was in full view.  Funny enough, the LC's was the only place I noticed one guy would smoke while fixing pizzas.  The customers didn't care.  He would be smoking the cigarette the whole time he rung them up to boxing the pizza and handing the order over.

I've been to a multitude of Wendy's while n the road for work (in the US). And I go there because the food is always the same (and better than McDs or BK) no matter which city I was in. The building was always the same. An upside down T with the vertical portion being the island kitchen where the cooking and prep could be easily watched from the counter area. But, I have never eaten at on in Canada.

As to your LC/smoker experience... If I walked into a place where any of the staff was smoking in the prep or cook area, I would have walked out and found a different place to eat. Aside from the ashes falling into the food, I can only imagine the other gross health practices in a place like that.
