Far too important to be shown in the UK, it seems.  We are just not ready for this sort of thing.

That's really a good video. I'd never heard of her (don't really watch ANY Youtube shows), but I checked out her other videos and she's really good. And the Fields Museum is legit amazing.

And the video was spot on about internet sexism.

I think YouTube has gotten better, but really, sometimes it's best to just ignore those comments. The type of people who write them are probably just getting satisfaction from their acknowledgement.

Hmmmm, the commercial played, but not the feature. Biatch.

Did you watch any of the dissection videos?  She seems to enjoy those way too much.

Doesnt want there to be any discernable difference between male and female STEM presenters. Does want more female STEM presenters. How odd.

She's certainly hotter than most of the "smokin' hot" school teachers that are arrested every month.

No, just another trick of the light

I honestly find her to be super attractive...

If only I were single and younger.

She does need to invest in some new glasses - not for her looks, but to get lenses with antireflective coatings.

She is pretty, no argument. It seems like she may have found her wardrobe in a trunk from the late 1800s though.

What exactly was her point?  I found her to be extremely long winded and uninteresting.

Okay, okay, so the internet is incredibly sexist.

What's wrong with being sexist? It's not like women are people.

Yahoo needs to get rid of that lousy video player of theirs and go with the standard instead of trying to have their own player designed just for them.  Doesn't work in Chrome and Internet Explorer thinks I need to Adobe Flash even if it has just been installed.

It works in Chrome, it just needs a second click for some reason.  Well, that's my experience anyway. But I agree, it's annoying.

sharp knees etc...would not do her...

Ok so here's the deal.  Sexism is real.  Women will always be viewed as sex objects first and foremost as long as men have penises and biology is a thing.  It's a sad truth but a truth none the less.  So you're a "cute scientist", well shiat.  That's the cross you have to bear.  Men won't stop thinking with their dicks and while that won't take away from the validity and content of your work they will continue to look at you through the prism of your appearance.  Bottom line is we are all creatures generated solely for the purpose of procreation and when we see someone we want to pork we will continue to see them as such.  Biologically men are the gun and women are the target.  That does not mean that they mean or contribute any less, it only means that how they are viewed will be perpetually colorized regardless of intent.  I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'd hit that.

That video would be way better is she talked a lot less and got way more naked.

She "FILMED" it in a "FILM STUDIO" ?  to put on youtube?  Really?

Also tits or gtfo.

There's really nothing sad about it.

The human brain is wired to solve problems, by not making her appearance match what is considered a cultural norm for female presenters she immediately gives her viewers with a problem to solve before she even utters a word.

This leads to viewers brains trying to reconcile the incongruity of her appearance with their expectations instead of listening to the information she is presenting. Every person is different, so reactions to will range from a quick mental "whatever" to a total zoning in on the issue. But every person is going to react to the incongruity. Think of it as a version of the Austin Powers mole bit.

None of this is our presenters fault, but it is something she must deal with if she wishes to convey her information as efficiently as possible, and increase her success.

All she needs to do either present herself more professionally, or simply more age appropriately and much of the appearance commentary will disappear. It is simply people reconciling the incongruity of her appearance and offering solutions. Because that is what some people do whether aid was requested or not.

As for the truly piggy comments, she needs to understand that males first instinctual reaction to a female is "Do/Do Not", it's biology we cannot fight. The only real question is how well we have been trained to keep that reptile brain function internalized. In other words - how good our manners are. As we all know the internet isn't really big on manners right now.

A stat that she drops: 7 of 13 male-hosted channels have over a million subscribers; only 4 channels hosted by women have more than 160,000.

i find that kind of weird because if i was interested in watching science-related videos on youtube and had a choice between dumb male hosts and cute female hosts, i would go for the female hosts every time.  it is just more enjoyable for me to watch a cute woman talk about science -- or do anything, really -- than watch a guy.  i would think other men feel the same way, so why do so many more people watch the male-hosted videos more often?

I'd hire all broads if I could, they work cheaper and feel the need to work harder than men do.
